Over in Orlando right now on holiday. Feels like a scary place even though really its probably the most safe a place could be, in the aftermath of something like this. Horrifying how people hijack things like this as a vehicle for their political views rather than just expressing sentiments for the poor people who have died and their families.

RIP to the 50 and I really really hope that number isn't added to.

This will hardly make America wake up to proper gun control when small kids being massacred in a school made little difference.

Everywhere I have looked Muslims online are condemning this atrocity.
They are not afraid to call Islamic extremism by its name and condemn it.
So let's put the myth that the majority of Muslims support this act to bed shall we?

The problem is political correctness is preventing non-Muslims from identifying the root cause of this massacre - Islamic extremism.

An Islamic extremist killed these poor people because they were gay. His ultra orthodox interpretation of Islamic teachings compelled him to murder them.

    Why can't people face facts?

This ''religion of peace strikes again'' type of talk is very glib and ignorant. This was the work of a violent psychopath with affiliation to an extremist form of modern fundamentalist Islam which has appeared and migrated from certain countries in the past couple of decades. Most of the victims of these monstrous Jihadis are Islamic people. They have made life hell for ordinary Muslims, and now that their ideology has spread - and they recruit virulently online - they are making life hell for people in other places. Muslims DO condemn these dreadful terrorists by their droves...people are being selectively deaf.

It seems distinctly like people are enjoying some sort of "Told you so" moment in combination with ranting about all the evil Muslims...
The stony silence from muslims when things like this happen, you could hear a pin drop. Where is the condemnation? Islam shouldn't be tolerated as long as mainstream Muslims tolerate extremism and consent to it with their silence. The lefty nutters are asking us to tolerate something that would turn around and chop their heads off given the first opportunity.

Yes, yes they have condemned attacks.

Guy was American what would make him take up a very extreme version of Islam ?

America will no doubt focus on the religious aspect of this and brush the main issue under the carpet - guns

Can you tell us about the last time ''white christian nutters'' murdered dozens of gay people in a hail of gunfire? All religious people are nutters imo, but at least the christian ones seem to be several centuries ahead of Islam in terms of live and let live. Islam is still stuck in a rut somewhere between the dark ages and the middle ages.

And with this attack Brexit looks more likely than ever.

Time for Irish citizens to lay down the new ground rules to our EU compliant and ašš kissing civil servants

The main issue in this particular case is Islamic extremism. End of.

This was not a garden variety mass murder or a just a homophobic attack.

This was very specifically an Islamic extremist attack on the United States itself.

Florida a well known as one of the gayest places on earth period. By attacking this club in Orlando the perpetrator was attacking LGBT rights world wide and Western liberal secular democratic civilization.

Is it really horrifying to you that people are not doing what you expect them to? That they think more about it then simply go "me is sad" and move on? Criticising people's individual ability to think to their own level and extent about their own concerns is fascism, you bully.

it's horrifying to think that there are people trying to dissociate the killers intentions and motivations from their own prejudices.

because some men rape, we are told there is rape culture among males.

because some Muslims kill, doesn't that means there is a kill culture among Muslims?

So the terrorist rang 911 and claimed allegiance to ISIS.

ISIS execute suspected gay people. This will happen in Europe next.

Ah yes, some mild football hooliganism, pretty much the equivalent of Islamic terrorism, and of course all Europeans must apologise for it, for some reason.. bizarre post.

Point is we don't need to apologise for football hooliganism because it has nothing to do with us. Same with average Muslims and the actions of extremists.

    Bullšhït

US is very tolerant of lifestyle choices, infact the guys most actually tolerant are live and let live NRA type heads

Your concept of what and how Americans behave is based on nothing other than your preconceived living life as a victim loser attitude

    Get out and live

Given that we've had someone b*tch about Hillary not tweeting quickly enough, here's Trump's latest tweet:

What damage could he have done without access those weapons? Perhaps kill a handful at a maximum.

    America will never learn

Yes amongst the well documented actions of their extremists. Their extremist tend to be astronomically more violent and blood thirsty. And have large numbers.

Ah yes, DR Selim, the mouthpiece in Ireland for the wonderful Mr Hallawa, a senior player in the Muslim Brotherhood, whose ambition is to spread Sharia law throughout the world. Incidentally, Dr Selim wants segration of Muslim girls in Irish schools, he also wants Muslim school girls in Ireland to be taught only by female teachers and he wanted the Call to Prayer played on TV and Radio here for the month of Ramadan.

How will alienating the 99.9% of peaceful Muslims be smart?

It is really horrifying to me that people are using this as a vehicle for their anti-Muslim views, yes. There have been countless mass murders over here unfortunately, the vast majority committed by white males who get passed over as lone wolves, despite the fact that these people all have equally messed up world views. On this occasion it wasn't a white male, so it isn't a lone wolf anymore, we're actually going to focus on the person's world view this time, instead of passing it off as mental health issues or something else that doesn't fit the political views of some.

There were attacks in London and the US in the 90s that did a huge amount of damage. Nowhere near as many killed but plenty injured.

And I accept that there are less christian people murdering people than Muslim people. IS are killing muslims every single day, and western people every few months. It's horrific. However the reality is that a homophobic and transphobic culture exists in the US and in Ireland.

Someone was wondering why people immediately thought it was a white nutter rather than an islamic nutter. And it's because white nutters have far more of an impact on the majority of LGBT people in the US and Ireland than any muslim does.

People are condemning radical Islam. And rightly so. I condemn it too. I also condemn the other "lesser" forms of homophobia that happen constantly.
