same as dublin, just get a bus. few mins later ur in town and ur suckin diesel. or u can go to the square, liffey valley, blanchardstown...

Everything is hours away in Dublin theres permanent traffic jams and the city smells,
oh yeah and its way too expensive

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,940 ✭✭✭The_B_Man

no only jams around 5-6pm and 8-10am.
u can get anywhere in dublin within 45 mins.
    ye the city can smell.
way too expensive compared to wat? ireland is too expensive!

Dublin = schnidt-hole. Full of knackers. Too spread out. Traffic is a nightmare. Public transport is a joke. Absolutley filthy. Radioactive sea..........................

In short, for a capital city it leaves a lot to be desired when compared with European rivals.

they'll probably be riddled with piss after 2 weeks though. its goin bout 50 metres from my house. i'd say the electric tracks will kill sum1 within 6 months of it openin.

The buses are amazingly terrible, the dart durin rush hour still the best means of transport but still over crowded dangerous and smelly, the trains are worse then the darts in the mornin though stil manage to be better then the buses!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,940 ✭✭✭The_B_Man

u get used to the buses. the dart is terrible during rush hour when people are crammed in like some feckin somalian bus where theres people sittin on the roof. lucky i never had 2 get it durin rush hour. but i never felt the buses were all that bad. i used 2 go to school in town and i'd be on the bus for about half an hour comin home every day for 6 years.

    Offence is taken!!!

theres a lot more to carlow than 40+ mingers! I cant understand all this whining. Im from Carlow and i know a lot of my pals who have went to college have stayed on here after college life cause

A: Its a good place to commute to work from if u have to work anywhere in the southeast,

B: its great when you finally grow up and have a family and

C: its not as expensive as dublin to live in point blank!!

So stop giving out about the place you could be glad of it someday

I also went to school in town the 5 mile bus journey could take anything from 45 minutes - 2hours depending on traffic:( record gettin home was 3 normally bout 1 1/2 hours did it

    Offence is taken!!!

Ok I will apologise for calling 90% of carlow mingers although I still stand by what I said.

Some of must see that Carlow is better when the students are around? It's more fun in the foundry etc...I was in Foundry last night and it was dead....and boring!

Yeah its alot more fun when theres students around,
Its not too bad in the summer though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭loismustdie

as u can see, ive mentioned the word "college" and "carlow". thats enough. ppl organise drinkin sessions here which dont mention the college so if they're allowed, im allowed.

    now mind ur business!

    ps carlow needs a hospital.

True, the student population does indeed add that extra bit of craic, especially on Thursday nights. However anyone who thinks its full of 40yr olds when the college closes should visit Tullys, Scraggs etc any weekend. Or better still pop into 'The Caste Tavern' back lounge on a Saturday night. If you still think its boring and full of 40yr olds, I doubt any city or town throughout the country can accommodate your wild lifestyle. Carlow Rocks!

aye, carlow is pretty cool at the weekends

Calow is ok on weekends, it just a lot wuiter than during the week sometimes. Esp a thursday night. Carlow does have a hospital but as far as i know it just a small regional think. Most people get sent to kilkenny.

during the summer the weekends are alot better than they are during the year, cos everyone is at home instead of staying away at college and stuff

Carlow has a hospital Dymphna's it triples as the mental hospital,Maternity hospital and prob anyhting else, but anything of severity or importance goes to Kilkenny,
Tis great takes bout a month to get an x-ray there:P

I've been away from Carlow around 6 weeks now. My sanity is a bit more questionable than usual.

I love living in Carlow, cause i'm not livin at home.
You know what the problem is?
You people spend to much time on boards and not enough in Scraggs or what ever your pub of choice is.
I can't wait to go back and i intend gettin down some weekend during the summer and getting twisted.
and of course its better than Dublin. Anywhere outside the Pale is better.
And thats my stance on the matter

Oh, nad i got a job! Shock to most of you i know

    Just to clear it up!

St Dympnas is a mental hosptial but all services was moved to Kilkenny about 4 months ago.

The maternity section of it closed about 20 years ago, so if yr unfortunate enough to go into labour early u have to cross yr legs and hold on till u get to Kilkenny, i speak from experence!!!

It has a district hosp that is for old folk recouping but thats about it, and that doubles up as caredoc ( as some of u will know who have had an unfortunate instance while drunk at the weekend and ended up needed medical attention! ) This only opens at night and the weekend. :D

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 19,021 Mod ✭✭✭✭Moonbeam

Hehe didn't know it wasnt used as a maternity hospital anymore:)
The care doc car is cool:)
