W00t!!! i've just gotten two tickets! Standing of course! :D

Now .. I sincerely hope that AC/DC are supporting the Stones cause that'd just be the icing on the proverbial cake!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,387 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

hussey- how did you find this out in the first place? they arent listed at all on ticketmaster. a search for rolling stones brings up nothing.

i got mine anyway thanks a lot

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 121 ✭✭bandy

Yeah THANKS SO MUCH...saved a lot of hassel come Friday morn.

Guessing that they're presale tickets for official fan club members (that you pay $90 to join!).

Also heard from the Point that they're defo playing a second night (if the first one sells out) - either a day or 2 before or after.

I saw them on the Bridges to Babylon tour - went as a nuetral for a nice day out - and they absolutely rocked the place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,894 ✭✭✭Mr. Fancypants

Bloody hell, whats the difference between the €55 tickets and the €130 (!) tickets. Do you get to sit in Mick Jaggers rectal area for the €130?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 121 ✭✭bandy

From what I can make out..
the E 130 tickets are the balcony seats upstairs
the E100 are the tiered seating at the back of the ground floor
    the E 80 are standing
and finally E55 are the seats on the ground floor at the sides...

Its kinda weird that some of the seats are actually cheaper than standing. But then again I reckon standing is the only way to go.

I take it these appeared along the same route as the Slane ones?I actually went about doin bit of a "test" today at the ticketmaster website but could only get so far along the same way as the Slane tickets :( then it just started givin me blank pages after I clicked the "go" button...

    Dregin

P.S. I think these pages appear so that Ticketmaster can check that their systems are working instead of leaving it until the day they go onsale and watching their servers dig themselves a hole and jumping into it :)

    Thanks hussey,

    I owe you one!

    hussey,

any chance of getting a link for the Glasgow or Manchester gigs?

    many thanks in advance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,387 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

    Nice one hussey!

Buy you a beer if I ever meet you:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,387 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

    tickets no longer available!

they had it reduce to a max of 4 too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭comet

Tip-offs like this are great. I don't think they'll be a massive demand for tickets though will there as i'm sure they'll play a few nights if they want.

Wow, The Rolling Stones are old! But I think they're still worth seeing. 'Exile on Main St' is one of my favourite albums ever. Great songs.

    Lemming

akaif, AC/DC are only supporting them for 3 gigs in Germany. They have their next album to get rolling.

Interstingly, Rolling Stones and AC/Dc use the same roadcrew, so one cannot start before the other finishes :D

    /edit

    13.6. Oberhausen
    20.6. Leipzig
    22.6. Hockenheim

    //edit

the closest Ireland is going to get to AC/DC is the AC/DC Tribute Show at the Olympia : 31-May-03

cant see them doing more than 2 nights. thats only 14000. u2 sold out slane twice in hours. and with the 40 licks album out too. but the tickets are expensive, but still its almost a certain 2 1/2hrs of classics unlike some old musicians who do 60 mins of new stuff

I don't remember seeing an option to enter a passcode.

Plus Ticketmaster had no problem in Charging me for the bloody tickets.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 327 ✭✭Cozpyro

    Phew!!

Managed to get onto Ticketmaster again. Booked another two.

Still not sure about the other pre sale tickets. I have checked my Visa card again and I have definitely been charged for those tickets.

I have racked by brains and I cannot remember being prompted to enter a Fan Club Membership number.

If the nice people at Visa let this transaction go through and Ticketmaster send out the first batch I'll be going on a nice holiday with the spoils!!!!

    We shall wait and see.

I have been charged aswell, but not refunded yet. I couldn't get tickets for the gigs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,387 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

    bastards charged me too.

anybody have any mates in ticketmaster that will know the story?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,156 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

I got billed too. If they try this on me (without a refund) I'm gonna raise a serious amount of sh*t with them

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 625 ✭✭✭ThreadKiller

OK Director of consumer affairs considers this to be a breach of cival liberties & consumer rights (they issued a booking reference/debited my card).

If you've been shafted by TicketBastard, call the consumer affairs people

    4025555

Office manager of Ticket Bastard is Helen Weir... "she doesn't take calls from the public"

Just been on the phone to both Consumer Affairs & ticketmaster.

TicketMaster are refunding any "unauthorised" bookings (ie. those that followed a link - don't ask me how they're determining that one ). All service charges will also be refunded.

The consumer affairs people pointed out that you have the option to take them to the small claims court if you were billed, since they have entered into a contract with you.

    Ticket-Bast*rds :(

Got this in my email, please copy & pass on...
Please read if you bought tickets for the rolling stones:

As you know Ticketmaster cancelled all tickets that were legally purchased through their irish website for the September 9th concert in the point.

This cancellation states that the tickets were for fanclub purchases & were subject to a fanclub pass code.

    At no point did the site request a passcode for purchase. Credit cards were debited & booking reference numbers issued. Despite this Ticketmaster insist that there is no contract, however;

According to Visa if a debit is made then a contract is in place.
According to the office of the Director of consumer affairs, there is a breach of civil liberties & consumer rights if this cancellation goes ahead.
According to a solicitor: "The tickets were offered for sale, the sale offer was accepted and consideration paid. Having said this if the tickets were purchased on-line I assume they were purchased subject to ticketmaster's standard conditions of trade which I presume allows it to cancel subject to a refund of the monies paid and this would be the argument it will make. Having said this again I doubt if Ticketmaster's trading conditions would cover it in this situation, assuming there was no reference to the fanclub in these. You could argue that you wern't buying a *ticket*, you was buying a right of access to the concert"
The number for the director of consumer affairs is 4025555. If you've had a cancellation please contact them & file a complaint, also contact your credit card company & file a dispute against ticketmaster.. The "Customer Services" number for ticket master is 648 6060, ask for "Brandon Walsh"

If you know anyone who's been let down please pass this email to them.

Stand up for your rights & make a difference.

    Thank you

Of course not! THey're a monopolistic corporation. THey're gonna be as slow as possible about refunds in all probability.

I've read through the website's T&C with an angle towards arguing that at no time were specific LEGAL T&C's placed on the tickets, and therefore are subject to normal sales.

However ,..... there are two generic T&C's which can counter this :(

seems strange that they would process money orders causing hassle for themselves with paperwork etc. maybe they want to hang onto money to get interest on it or something, they really are scum

Well, I've told them I'm also looking the bank charges on my credit card paid for too, since they broke a contract that I entered in good-faith.

I reckon they got burnt badly with the pre-sales.

Whomever is their netowkr security person should be shot. Another fine example of "Security through Obscurity" does not work.

How can they determine the authroisation of someone who has simply followed a link. At no point was there any authentication (which is in contravention of their T&C on authorised sales)

Everyone should take the information above and reply to the e-mail from Customer Services about the cancellation of tickets.

I sent mine and am awating a reply. I will post it here as soon as it comes through.

Apparantly this Brandon Walsh guy is getting hundreds of phone calls :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 327 ✭✭Cozpyro

I'm just off the phone with Brandon Walsh from Ticketmaster(bateur). At this stage in the day he is well versed in the standard answer.

I threw in the line about Director of Consumer Affairs and Breach of Contact. The line given back is that you entered into a contact with Ticketmaster which you have broken. How he came up with that I don't know. He said it was in the Ts&Cs that you agree that you have come to the web page legally. He also said that I should contact the person who fowarded the link as they are in breach of the Ts&Cs on the Rolling Stones website.

He said that all credit cards have been refunded this morning.

Still no reply to my e-mail but I reckon they are being super careful about anything they put in writing. If everyone is ringing them with talk of D.O.C.A and Small Claims they must be getting nervous.

Ah .. but they themselves are also in violation of their T&C.

    Firstly, define "legally".

Secondly, since the tickets were sold under the T&C anyone "deep-linking" into the website has violated the T&C, including Rolling Stones registered fans, since no omission is made for them.

Thirdly, there is no means of controlling "authorisation" (in accordance to their T&C again) since no "pass-code" existed. I challenge them to say how they authenticated each user from a standard URL.

In fact .. I'm about to ring them again ...

This is how I found the tickets for sale.

I heard they were playing on the 9th of september I went to the site & entered the date into the search box. It came back with the rolling stones.

    I bought the tickets.

How is this in breach of their T&Cs ?

exactly. are they saying i commited and illegal act buy ordering tickets? defamation of character methinks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,156 ✭✭✭✭Lemming

    Ringing them about 4pm.

Firstly, I "legallty" entered their website, by typing an address into my web-browser. At no point did I subvert their security measures nor gain unauthorised access to their site, and any implication that I did will be met with censur.

Secondly, the email sent initially quoted:

Ticketmaster would like to inform you that all tickets ordered for the Rolling Stones at
The Point, September 9th 2003, prior to the general onsale date (May 2nd 2003 at 9.00am) will only be valid if the relevant Rolling Stones Fan Club Passcode is supplied at the time of booking.

At what point was the passcode utilised? At no time during booking I can tell you. And most certainly not from the web-link, otherwise access would have been denied. Therefore at the point of transaction, no Passcode was sought, nor was one capable of being inputted by the user.

Also, no "pass code" existed, since there was no authentication on the booking page, and this is in fact, a spurious excuse at best.

Go one the Web guys who know what they are talking about!!

TM seem to be digging themselves in deeper and deeper.

If all credit cards were refunded this morning, note the time they sent the e-mail out, then chances are that the cancelled tickets were put back out for sale at 9:15, note that they didn't go on sale at 9:00 as they were supposed to. My guess is this was to allow themselves the time to see how many more tickets they had to sell this morning.

As all tickets were sold out in a matter of minutes, Ticketmaster cannot possibly provide digruntled punters with tickets.

I can't wait to see the final outcome of all of this.

    According to Newstalk

The Director of consumer Affairs will be interviening & may even stop the concert going ahead (through a court case).

News talk are talking of a community court case against ticketmaster

I doubt very much they'll stop the gigs over this (unless LOTS of "official" Rolling Stones fanclub people got burnt in this fiasco also.

I do see the DoCA jumping somehow though.

In any case I think cancelling the concerts is rather heavy handed.

However I see nothing wrong with taking ticketmaster to book. IIRC, a LOTS of bands do not like ticketmaster, but have little choice since ticketmaster are about the only entity who deal with distribution & promotion of gigs across the world.

OOoOOoOOOoOOooOO! The downfall of Ticketmaster? Maybe I'm gettin' my hopes up too much.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16 Joey Ramone

Ticketbastard can rot in hell if I don't get my tickets. I've been waiting impatently to see the stones since they announced the 40 Licks tour.

The first gig is on my 21st birthday and I got six standing tickets to see them on monday. I hope to God a court case is brought up against them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16 Joey Ramone

thanks to a friend of mine we got the story in the front page of the sunday mirror. We're not 100% happy with it as too much space was given to mcd/ticketmaster's argument and he left out a lot of the info I gave him. My quote could have filled half the page, not just the 2 or 3 paragraphs he gave me. We're getting in contact with several other papers about this.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16 Joey Ramone

just want to keep ye up to date. The Independent contacted me earlier and should be running a story today (monday). My friend has contacted the times and a few other papers. I've emailed dave fanning and RTE gave his number to my friend. So hopefully something will come of that.

I'm not happy with the mirror's article at all. It took a couple or reads to realise that. I was blinded by the fact that we managed to get the story to the front page.

Lets stir up as big a fuss about this as we can. Be sure to listen to dave fanning during the week in case he decides to talk about it.

I see that they've re-credited cards as quickly as they debited them... (not)
