They are yeah, MCD have confirmed, February 5th '06 at the Ambassador. No on-sale date yet, but it should pop up on Ticketmaster soon.

I usually know what the outcome will be for these sort of gigs but does anyone reckon this will sell out at all? There is a break on their tour scheduele between the Dublin and Belfast dates (which is rare) for a possible second Ambassador show...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,592 ✭✭✭Ro: maaan!

It'll sell out very quickly. Second show is almost certain. I'd say.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 546 ✭✭✭elduggo

its up on ticketmaster alright, advertising a 9am sale tomorrow. the B+S mailing list said they'd be available from today but that it was advertised for tomorrow (to give the list members a head start).

I've been onto Road, Sound Cellar and Ticketmaster and none are aware of this early sale.

    Tomorrow it is so.

And heres hoping for a second show. You can never get too much Belle and Sebastian!!

    Yep, Got mine, cant wait.
Seen them last time they played here in the Olympia, and Stuart Murdoch smashed up a guitar Pete Townsend style, it was most funny.

How long till they sell out, in your opinion?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Well it looks like at least 8 have already been sold to people on this thread alone....

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,110 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

and how many threads like this exist!?!?!? ;)

ah well, better not be too fast!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 546 ✭✭✭elduggo

very hard to know. I'd have thought not that fast, but I'd have said that about Jack Johnson also, and he was sold out in minutes.

The B+S concert is advertised as going on sale tomorrow so your average Joe Punter will be looking for their tickets then.

Best not to take the chance and get them anyway.

This thread should be in Gigs/Events!

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,110 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

We do not want tickets sold fast...just for me :p
    shssh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,609 ✭✭✭comet

Yeah but we've all got our tickets so it can be moved now!! :D
Ah I just think there has been a general deterioration of gig announcements being poeted there because people are posting in sub forums like this. I actually posted there because I hadn't seen this thread, come on mods!!

Judging by this thread, and a few real life convos, you never know a second date could be on the cards.

Just as long as they don't move it to a bigger venue instead. That would rightly piss me off. Hmm... See them twice in a small venue... or see them once in a big venue...

I desperately want to see B&S while I'm in Dublin. Though it would cost me a ****-all lot of money to see 'em.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

Vicar Street would have been nice.

Best gig I've ever been to was B&S at Oxegen. Can't wait to see them.

Has another official date been added.

"Cryptic last bit: There will actually be another B&S album (of sorts) released before "The Life Pursuit". In three weeks in fact. But we can't say what it is for a couple of days."

    Live album? Eh?

Oh, if you want the rest of the info, you should be on the mailing list...

Maybe a post-jeepster singles/ep collection. Granted it would be a lot shorter than "Push bar man..."

I was at a FREE gig for them last year at the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow as part of the West End Festival. All you had to do was turn up, the weather was fantastic and the location couldn't have been nicer.
It was a great home-coming gig for them as they're from that area too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,114 ✭✭✭noby

It's "If you're feeling Sinister", live at the Barbican, available for download 6th Dec.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,592 ✭✭✭Ro: maaan!

    Deadly.

Though not the album I'd have chosen.

I'm a big B&S fan, have almost all of their output (except for Push Barman as I have everything on it anyway), go to see them whenever it's practical - most recently I was at this IYFS gig in London. I'm a sucker for product. I want to be able to read the sleeve notes while listening to the album. If I download (illegally), I see it as no different to listening to an album on a listening post - if I don't like it, I delete it. If I do I will end up buying it. I have never, nor can I forsee myself ever, paid to download an album online.

And then B&S do this. Download Only???? What a bunch of crap. It totally invalidates any arguement bands/labels have against illegal downloads versus owning the actual product. As much as I'd like a momento of the gig, I'll make do with my bootleg MD until such a time as I can find an illegal copy of this album online.

edit: I'm aware that this is for charity an'all, so I won't go downloading it illegally.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭lacuna

    Firstly, it's memento, not momento.

Secondly, I don't see how it invalidates any argument that bands/ record companies have against illegal downoads. Afaik the main argument would be that the band has made the music and it's copyrighted so they should be paid for what's theirs. It'd be pretty lame if the main argument was that it's nicer for fans to have hard copies of the band's material.

Thirdly, it's not necessary to assure people that you'll download it legally just because it's for charity. You'll not get a Blue Peter badge here.
