    Sonic Youth did a cover version of The Carpenters superstar, which was surprisingly excellent, it's funny how some bands can turn an ordinary song into something brilliant. Another case of this would be St.Etienne's Only Love Can Break your heart.

    And to be really pedantic - it was Burt'n'Hal who wrote it. I think the artist who recorded the definitive version was Dusty Springfield

    There's was a cover, the original was by Gloria Jones. Manson's is the worst of all the Tainted Love covers I've heard. He's normally good at covers but that and Personal Jesus have both been bollocks.

    Off the top of my head...

    Glen Hansard - Everytime (originally Britney Spears) - this song just kills me, specially the violin

    Radiohead - Nobody Does It Better (Carly Simon) - Tom introduces is as the sexiest song ever written - it gives me goosebumps. Good ones.

    The Dead Flags - Survivor (Destiny's Child) - wild, screaming version is roughly a million times better than the original

    There are probably loads more but that's all I got right now
