I remember these crisps that my friend brought over from england which I thought were the coolest ever!!

The were vinegar flavoured or plain flavoured or something but there was a sachet of salt in the packet which you sprinkled over the crisps!! How cool is that!
smiths crisps. You can get them hear the odd time. Iceland carry lots of english crips, i think their shops are all close now though.

the packet dates back to some guy who used to sell crisps in pubs in england, he used to give people salt in blue packs

I used to love Super Hoopers but haven't seen them for years.I recently spotted French Fries and duly bought a few packets. They're not the same as they used to be.Sam Spudz smokey bacon were class.Think it was as much about the crinkles as the taste.Discos salt n vinegar--you'd have to lick the salt off first.Mr Perri onion rings were nice too but not as good as Super Hoopers.

Heh, I remeber all these crisps as i'm a crispomaniac, but i've just recalled these corn snacks that were like chipsticks only they were a weird curry flavour and were called 'curry chips', and they had these sterotypical chinese people on the packet....think they're gone now...

the nicest crips ever the old style perri pub crisps in cheese and onion, then they changed the packet and the flavour about ten years ago and they were never the same...:(

    Yes

Crunchos were actually withdrawn as they were considered dangerous for young kids because they were so hard and may get lodged in a child's throat.

There was a move to sell them in pubs a la Bacon Fries, but this was shelved too.

    So now you know!

    :)

Remember Sam Spudz used to have a wee cartoon strip story on the packet? Did I dream that? He was a detective mike hammer style:). People seem to be saying that the consistency of a lot of crisps has changed, I imagine it could be because a lot of manufacturers are taking the hydrogenated oil out of their products.

I asked about Captain America crisps in a similar thread in AH but got no response. I figured I will probably have a better chance with some of the old schoolers here. Tell me I am not imagining it and they did actually exist.

Snaps are pickled onion flavoured, still love them.

I remember Sam Spudz well and the detective guy on the packet who was always in silhouette. Here's an ad I haven't seen before with Frank Carson, aimed squarely at the Northern market.
