Where do you get these figures? There is no WAY Jervis is bigger than Dundrum. Dundrum is one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe. Jervis is just a mall in the city centre.
....of the retail space in the 78,965 sq m (850,000 sq ft) has already been committed and there is considerably competition for the remaining units. In addition to the shopping, the centre will have a wide range of facilities including civic buildings, a 200-seater theatre, 78 bedroom hotel, 17,651 sq m (189,993 sq ft) of offices, 59 apartments and a car-park with 2,900 spaces.

With planning permission for 37,160 sq m (399,986 sq ft) of shopping, there are likely to be about 80 individual stores, making it slightly bigger than Jervis Centre.

Don't forget Jervis includes the Large 4 story M & S building in it's remit.

Must say driving past it last night its not the most inviting looking shopping centre ive seen. I notice that driving into it and out of it will be some fun especially in the run up to xmas and over the next few weeks with everyone going in to have a look. The traffic will by mental just like it was before the motorway came in. We shall be going back to long delays both in and out of drogheda. Dont think much planning went into the carparking of it as when you exit (heading for dundalk) you have to cross over lane with the traffic lights just a few yards away (I can see complete mayhem with it). Im dreading it.

Went in today - looks really well inside, nearly all the shops are open. Didnt park in the carpark though, id say its pretty awkward!!

Just returned from it....Its lovely a bit packed to say the least and a lot of the shops are not open. Hey Leanne what happened saw you all packing but the doors werent open. Ceiling is a bit low when you walk in but when you get into the shops its better. NIce mix of old and new materials where they incorporated some of the old buildings into the design looks good. No coffee place open yet could have done with one:D . Off now to bring the kids down  .

Just back from the Hall. Good mix of Shops but it does need a BOOTS. I've to agree with Irish Grumpy, the heat was stifling. Not one of the shop had their air conditioning on.:o

I was there about 7:30 or so and it was very cool, so they must have turned the AC on. Be careful of the carpark entrance ramp when its raining, as when i started to move from my position halfway up it, my wheels just kept skidding. The guy behind me nearly had a heart attack :v:.

When I was there at 11 o'clock when it opened it was freezing...
Disapointed in the Dunnes drapery it looks as if half the stock is missing. Kids clothes very bad selection. I was in swords the other day and it is so much better.
The Waterstones is fantastic. Good bargains to be had there.

Went down at 4 o'clock and had no problem finding parking or getting through the town. Left at 7 very mindful of the price of parking (its a disgrace) and had no problem getting out. Traffic lights coming out of the centre to let you out on to the road. The only problem I had was going to the car park and not being able to find my car:eek: There is two different car parks and I went to a different one had a little panic attack and frightened a "courting" couple well I dont know who was more surprised me or them:eek: .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,292 ✭✭✭gonker

Just inside the doors from the car park:D ...Hey its warm and dry....:D
Yes I agree the parking is a disgrace. I was in Marshes in Dundalk and Dunnes give you two hours free with every €20 spent.....cant see why they cant do it here:mad:

Jesus €13.50 for parking? How long was that for?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 202 ✭✭Guv

Different management company. I find that paying for parking is a real p1ss take. You go into the shops with the intention of buying items and I am sure some spend a few hundred euros surely a sensible thing to do would be to encourage the shopper to linger in the centre for longer rather than jack them on the parking. Sure you might get window shoppers but these people may buy items as well on impulse.

When did we start as a nation accepting that paying for parking in a sc is normal, this would never happen in the US.

Is the surface of the carpark easy on the tyres or is it the same garbage as in Dundrum?

Dunnes open to midnight for food in scotch hall?

Totally irrelevant comparison comparison, we're not in the US.

Who needs to spend more than one to two hours in there anyhow?

There is also the risk that if it is free parking then it would be used as an over flow by rail users.

Well its 1.20 an hour for the first three hours so 3.60 then wait for it   €5 something an hour after that so 5 hours..... I havent been in the Dundrum Centre yet so dont know what the surface is like it seems to be kinda rubbery if you know what I mean...well my heels didnt "click" on them

Dunnes is open M-F until 12.

Car park isn't painted like Dundrum.

If, and by God I don't know how anyone could spend three hours shopping in Scotch Hal, but if you you need to spend over three hours shopping then on the third hour pay for your parking and exit and then reenter the car park immediately.

The car park prices are a joke! I have to park at bus depot and walk over! Althought if you were shopping, you would get everything done within 3 hours!

    13 in a few days....and 10.......

Just down there again...If you go into carpark 2 there is no way to the shopping bar the lift which is very very packed....not a good design.....There was queues of people waiting to get to the shopping area and people going down the up travelator which could be dangerous...

I know its just opened and all, and that there was a lot of rush work near the end, but i have to say the finish of the place is pretty crappy. If i was a homeowner i'd have a snag list the length of my arm. From the filth of the lifts to the bits of cement around the place.

Was up there today. Great to finally have some decent shops. Parking was a disaster and expensive. Other then that its a thumbs up.

    OT new smilie lol. :v:

Does anybody think that the traffic is much better since it opened. I work Saturday and Sunday and it normally takes me half an hour to get to bettystown (where I work) but today and yesterday it only took me 15 mins. and thats at 2 oclock and I was home in jig time at 5:D where normally it took me a half an hour

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,566 ✭✭✭GrumPy

yeah, since they finished the marsh road is less conjested, and considering theres no traffic entrance to the centre other then the dublin road, it helps.

Its a nice place.I went there yesterday with my friends after the rugby and there wasnt many people there. HMV is the main attraction but the place is not as neat as Dundrum. Its a far nicer location though.

I got of the bus on Friday and was interogated by a bus driver/inspector about parking my car at the depot. He wanted to know if i had got off the bus or had just left it there to go shopping. He was taking notes of the car regs. They are starting to clamp down on it as he says it is for the use only of the people using the bus. The carpark behind the bus depot is free for all!. (Just in case you park there and come back and fined it clamped or blocked in)!

@sandyg - sorry thats the car park i meant - the one behind! Anyway they have no proof if you used the bus or not hehe!!
