Hey does anyone know what time I should start queueing at the Point for 50?I'm standing and want to be close to the front,I'd ideally like a band for the front anyway, so does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks Guys.

like 3hours before it actually starts and you still mightnt get up at the front. Do you know what time its starting?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 169 ✭✭hiphopfanno1

Its on at 8 but you know the concert won't start until 9 so I was thinking of queueing at around 3.30. I heard that the view at the back of standing is really s***e so I don't want to end up there after paying around 60 euro for the ticket.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

The view is ok from the back if your tall but otherwise your screwed. If you want to get up front then go at 12 and get an arm band otherwise they wont let you in the front section, you just need to be there early to get them then you can go home and come back an hour before it starts and youll get up fairly close. Sadly i bought seated tickets cause ill be in work and too tired for all that standing business.

At least your going too it anyway. Did ye hear theyre supposed to be conviskating (dont know how to spell it) all cameras and camera phones at the doors

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 205 ✭✭chiller

heard about the camera phone thing im gonna bring mine anyway they said that last year 2 they didnt take it off me to get rite up the front id say b at the point at about half 3 at the latest should b a good gig

they couldnt take peoples phones there would be riots I wouldnt go in if they tried tried that. As for it being a good gig, well hopefully it is last time was great although im mainly going to see mobb deep cause all 50's stuff has gone down hill big time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

They plan to impose a cloakroom like system where you get a ticket for your phone/camera and you redeem it at the end of the night.
They made the decision to place the ban, it's in the contract. If you choose not to hand over your phone they wont have a problem refusing you admitance to the concert.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

lol whats the bet all your credit is used up by the time you get it back. I dont understand the point of banning cameras. I mean if someone is bringing in some high end equipment then fair enough ban them but someone with a digital camera or disposible camera its not like there going to get the sort of quality that they can sell. And it dosnt really work ive a video of the whole of summer jam 05 someone took with a camcorder they got in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

It's not the Point's decision. 50 Cent (or his managment) stipulated it in the terms of the contract.
And there is nothing stoping people removing there sim cards before handing over the phone.
I'm not saying I agree with the whole thing. As you say as long as it's not some professional photographer who gives a shít, but what's the point in causing hassle by refusing to comply?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

Its not just 50's management its everyone who plays anywhere these days and I blame the promotors for letting them away with it. Like I said im just not bringing my phone.

I never knew there was a ban on camera's and camera phones.I need my phone because there will be 3 of us teenagers in the point not a good idea...
I'm going to take Kristoks advice and queue at 12 and try and get an arm band hopefully we'll get them fast so we can leave and get ready.
What will I do about my phone?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 169 ✭✭hiphopfanno1

Where did it say you can't bring a camera phone?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

Its cool you can bring your phone apparently theres going to be a coat check type system where you get it back later with your ticket. Im just leaving mine in the my car just to be sure.

Where did it say you can't bring a camera phone?
i heard it on the internet (cant remember what site) but it did say something about a check system

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

Just back from it and there was no problems with the phones they just told people to leave them off when inside. All in all excellent concert talk about moneys worth, the regular g unit + mop, mobb deep and ma$e even popped out for one song which was a bit of a shock and got everyone screaming. Oh and collie graced us with his presence for what seemed like forever and apparently his new album is out next month, well he thinks it is "what month is this" class act that lad.

Anyone know if those screens where part of 50's stage or new additions to the point cause it was really nice to actually be able to see something other than little people walk around in the distance.

And on a different note the crowd where so well behaved I didnt see one fight or one person get kicked out, well as I said I didnt see but i imagine it happened still nice to go to something big like this and not see crap like that happen.

How many songs did Mobb Deep do? Was it old stuff off the infamous? please tell me they werent screaming G G G-unit.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

they did 3, one off their last album and shook ones and something else i cant remeber which. And yes they yelled g unit as did mop and mase.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,012 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

I WAS AT THE FRONT.WELL THE 2ND ROW IN THE MOSH PIT MY FRIENDS WERE AT THE FRONT.IT WAS UNREAL!LLOYD BANKS KNELT DOWN TO ME AND MY FRIENDS AND POINTED AT US AND SMILED!THANKS KRISTOK FOR TELLING ME TO GO AT 12 WE GOT THERE AT 1 AND STAYED UNTIL THE SHOW!It was funny because I really need to go to the bathroom and made my friends run in even though your not allowed and I ran to the toliet and out and got in right behing them, until I was shoved out of the way many times and got in the 2nd row again around 3/4's through the show!
Young Buck did a stage jump was right next to him his bodyguards jumped in and loadds of people fell on me I've loads of really sore bruises but it was well worth it and I got to touch him, big thing for me.
Young Bush had a joint of Hash on stage the smell was unreal he smoked it all in one go and got everyone the light their lighters and phones and turned off audience light was cool.
M.O.P were the best guests in my opion did 'Ante Up' and 'Cold As Ice'. Mase was good too though(As were Mobb Deep ,but I don't know them as well as M.O.P and Mase),the security guards told us he was coming. He did More Money More Problems. 50 shouted out Tupac and Biggie too and Jim Sheridan and U2!!!
50 did all the classics, slamed Game told everyone who says G_UNOT to go buy games album and he said if Game was better than him he wouldn't be able to do this- and performed 'In Da Club'.He also held up a flag he got from a guy in the audience saying 'Game Over' on an Irish flag!50 was loving that flag.
There were some knackers but there didn't seem to be any trouble apart from outside when a man was punched in the face for his ticket.
I couldn't believe how close I was to 50 didn't bother trying to take a picture on my phone the security guards were screaming at anyone who did and threatened to throw them out, anyway I couldn't move.
Afterwards tried to get on tour bus but 50 and crew weren't there but was allowed on Olivias bus and she had a labtop and all sorts in there, we were talking the bus driver and manager for AGES and they let us write a note to Olivia to which the driver PROMISED to give her, I made him pinky swear and told him about having to get up at 4.30!They said that 50 and crew were staying in Four Seasons and were getting bus the next day ,they were going Northern Ireland.
Ok I wrote loads, I'll be quiet and go away now!!

What an amazing show. This is just my opinion and I was arguing with my mates, but I thought that it wy better than when eminem played puchestown a few yrs ago. I took loadsa pictures but they all turned out sh1te. I was disappointed that yayo wasn't there but I guess he cant on account of being only outta jail. I never heard any mobb deep before, only got it twisted, I was well impressed with them. Hell, I was even impressed with Collie.
Remeber when I said this , haha I love being right. I knew Ma$e would be there.
Finally, my god Olivia is fiiiiiiine

Hmm, prob better off i didn't go so, i was considering going just to see them and get out before the mumbling started but if they only played 3 songs it wouldnt have been worth €60.

Can you get that magazine in Cork???Was looking out for it in Easons but couldn't spot it!When is that issue out? I knew that they smoked weed obviously but didn't think they'd smoke it in their concert it was no big issue I just thought it was crazy when he smoked it all in one go. My scratches and bruises from being in front of pit have gotten really bad and yellow!Ya the concert was unreal. Where was the afterparty? They said everyone was invited but I thought they were just saying that?I know they were staying in Th eFour Seasons but didn't think it would be on there and it was way to far out to get a taxi to and if it was a club I wouldn't get in because I'm only 16!Which I could of gone to after party though.Whoops about Yayo being there I thought they said something about him performing or something but didn't really know what he looked like, was more concentrated on GGGGGGGG G-UNIT!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 kevri

the afterparty on saturday was in the sub lounge and on sunday it was on in mischief...

we were giving out the passes on sunday to get money off at the door, but we only had 1000 to give out...

and yeah the magazine is all over cork, though 80% of the shops are now sold out so if you are looking for copies you can buy it online at euromixtapes.com

The racecourse? The only racecourse (Horses) in the area is Leopardstown, the hotel out here is Bewleys. The Four Seasons is in Ballsbridge, no racecourse there unless he meant a dog track, which would be Shelbourne Park (Ringsend), but sure that's no distance from the Point.

Leopardstown by car isnt a long journey but it would be a bit out of the way.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭Kristok

Yes the irish rapper was collie. Most people thought he was funny for one or two songs but it got really boring after that hearing him rap about dublin. I dont think supporting 50 is really a good idea it should be someone the crowd knows like last time when we had fabolous cause everytime I see irish guys rap at concerts it always seems to end up with the crowd ignoring them after a while or booing them as was the case at kanye which was very funny.

Ya Collie was crap after a while and very boring, everyone in bit got very tired of him. He said he'd give us free cd's and 50's bouncer wouldn't let him!

Ya it was the dog track! But Ballsbridge is meant to be 4 miles from The Point we had to get ataxi everywhere as we were by ourselves and carless

4 miles? Really? I walked from the Donnybrook to the Point once and it didn't take me that long at all.
