I liked Esk a lot, and the lead guy in Moving Pictures. Can't remember his name. I also liked Mort, and death of course.

Have to say, I'm back reading Mort again and Death is quality. He's definitely my fav character.

    Closely followed by:
Rincewind: (Basically thought he was class since playing the computer games, but in the books he's even funnier)

Vimes: (especially in Nightwatch, though I haven't read all the guards books yet, i think)

CMOT (Cut MY Own Throat) Dibbler: (The discworlds very own Delboy Trotter) I think in Soul Music he's the manager and very funny. Been a while since i read it.

Conan the Barbarian: (i think if memory serves correctly, in Interesting Times along with the other barbarians)

Ah yes - the one horseman, and the three pedestrians of the apocalypse. Sheer genius :)

The patrician is my favourite char. Just the right blend. Vimnes I think comes a close second.

    Vimes!Has to be.
He's the most developed of all the charaters (although death is close)
Is there a watch/death book out there?
Cuz if there ain't he should write one!

    Thats a really hard choice...........
    i mean theres Death,Death of rats,the wizards,Lu tze etc.

Its too hard to just pick one :p
although i'd say Death is one of my favourites

Death is my favourite character but some honourable mentions must be made...

Rincewind, The Librarian, Dibbler and Om in turtle form in 'Small Gods' come to mind straight away.

    Going Postal was great.

Seemed like a great return to form after trudging through monstrous regiment.

Lu-Tze - hightly under rated, all those daft sayings and nothing to back them up....magic.....

And of course the always important Rule One......

    Lots of great characters:

Moist Von Lip & William de Worde seem pretty similar, both great though.
    Lord Vet.
    Vimes.
    Don't like Sybill.
Librarian is excellent,... ook! (he felt a soft leathery something grasp his hand)
    Om, the turtle.
The luggage & Rincewind in the second league of characters I think.

Sam Vimes would be the best main character with any of the Igors being the best minor characters.

Vimes, Death or Rincwind... they should fight to the... oh no, that wouldn't quite be fair I suppose... So how will I decide...?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 818 ✭✭✭Cormic

I always preferred the Wizards, especially Rincewind. Also love Death and Susan. Come to think of it I would love to see Susan starring in a book again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 356 ✭✭the evil lime

    Vimes, particularly in Night Watch.

Then Vetinari, any time he turns up.

    Oh, and Greebo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,737 ✭✭✭Asiaprod

The Librarian, one cool ape (did someone just say MONKEY)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 237 ✭✭Snake Pliisken

Greebo, Vimes , Rincewinds friend sell ins-ewer-an-se.
    All great characters

The Watch, Colon, Nobbs, Detritus, Angua, Carrot etc. bumbling incompetant but they get the job done!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 101 ✭✭Bonzodog

I think my favourite characters have to be the witches, closely followed by the Librarian. My favourite book to date (and I have all books up to Going Postal), is Lords & Ladies. "Lots of hey nonny nonny and blood all over the place". :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 jhop

well, Lu-Tse indead. and death. Hex is not really a charactor, but as a programmer, a system that doesn't work until it has enough bugs is great! And detrius superconducting was great.

Really, very few of the characters are bad. Most of them have a single joke attached (well the minor characters anyway), but since it is usually a good one i dont mind.

Defintiely Cheri. Gods, I love Cheri. And Detritus is great, too. They're like Dr. Zoiberg from Futurama; they don't get the biggest parts, but everytime they say something it's pure gold.

I have difficulty deciding who my favourite character is in a single book, never mind favourite overall!

I think I must be the only one that enjoyed Monsterous Regiment!
