Regrets?

Hey everyone. Is there anything that you really regret doing in your life? Something that you would change if you were able to go back in time? I've a few, I regret the age I started drinking at (very very young age), and I regret not going to the dentist on a regular basis. I means I have to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed
I also regret giving up soccer and golf when I did. I was pretty good at soccer, and by giving up golf I lost my membership, which was only 50 quid at the time cause I was a student, If I want to rejoin, I have to pay 3 grand and I'll be on a five year waiting list. I also regret not showing my ex enough attention. That is by far my biggest regret. :(

That sucks. Have you read that book that's very popular? You smoke throughout the book, but by the end you're supposed to totally hate them? I forget the name of it, but it has worked for everyone I know who gave it a go.

This thread was done not so long ago if i remember correctly but anyways there are a lot of thigs i regret not doing, a lot more than thigs i regret doing however like county i regret smoking. I used to think i was so cool having a fag after school and hiding in the toilets hoping the teachers wouldn't catch us!! What a ****ing waste.

    Edit*/

Thats the Alan Carr book supposed to be very good but if your anyway cynical about self help books it probably wont do much good, i know two people who stayed smoking after it but yeah they were cynics :)

A little off topic but the closest thing yet to having me quit was seeing Sean Penn in 21 grams, excellent film!!

    I'm fueling the off topicness...

I still have to see that movie, I keep forgetting about it though. Been meaning to watch it now for months

I regret being a coward throughout primary/secondary school.
I regret having gone to that **** hole Rosmuc.
I regret not having tried to get to know more girls/women, I hate being lonely.
I regret knowing only now at 22 years old knowing what kind of music I like.
    I regret being a coward.
I regret bullying my sister (that includes preying on the weak cause of my insecurities).
I regret not having taken up running when I was a teen.
I regret being different and unique as much as I love it, sometimes it would have been easier just to follow the crowd.
I also regret it everytime I haven't got the courage to put someone in their place because of the fear of upsetting them.
    I regret being afraid
There's more I just can't think of them I regret that because this is kind of theraputic.

Trying to give up to booze myself, proving very hard because I'm having serious relationship issues at the moment. Oh the joys of it. Right... bedtime.

Hmmm I tend not to have too many regrets as I think it's counter-productive in terms of going forward with confidence and getting on with things.

Having said that I do regret giving up the piano and music theory when I was around 12-13yrs old. I was sh!t-hot but my teacher in the Royal Academy of Music was just too demanding and intimidating and one day I left the place saying I would never go back, and I didn't (no matter what my parents tried). :(

i remember having a a fairly big arguement with my mother over something trivial (perfect hindsight) and basically telling her to go away. I remember my father telling me life is too short for stuff like that. long story short she died shortly afterwards and i never got a chance to say im sorry.

As ironic as a crowbar to the face.

I have a few regrets , but who among us doesn't.

I regret saying some thing to someone on a night out, they did deserve something said to them but i was OTT.

i regret giving up some sports, and never taking them back up.

I regret some of the relationships i've been in, but hindsight and all that jazz.

i regret having my heart broken by my last relationship, but rather to of loved and lost than to of never loved at all... even if it's the hardest thing to get over.

There isn't much I memorably regret, I guess doing a course I hated and dropping out is a big one, as is:
I also regret not showing my ex enough attention. That is by far my biggest regret

Same thing for me, strange how you only miss them and realise how much better a person you could have been afterwards...But ah well, live and learn, we only live the once.

That said though, my current GF was dumped rather crudely by me about a year ago......I thought I was happy etc with other girls, but then I thought hmm, I really liked that girl, what the hell did I do....

....Took alot of talking, asking, refusals, and persistance before she finally agreed to go out with me again. I wouldn't take no for an answer. But here we are today, happier then I've ever been before. I got lucky.

So thats one big regret that I managed to amend in the face of defeat.

I regret getting my heartbroken this year by someone I would have trusted with my life who now isn't even talking to me. I thought I knew him so well, turns out I don't know him at all.

I'm never going to let myself get hurt like that again. Ever.

Other regrets pale in to insignificance compared to that.

Was thinking it'll always hurt. A huge chunk of my life was taken up by that relationship. Not just loosing my partner but my best friend. Best friend, HAH, I should choose my friends more carefully.

I just want to let you know that there is alot to look forward to. This isnt the end of the world, no no. In time you will start to think less and less of it, thinking that you are getting over it. In actual fact you are taking a swirling ball of emotions and compressing it, like coal turning into a Diamond. Except instead of something spectacular like diamond, its this hardend ball of resentment, mistrust, pain, doubt etc that will take you years to shake off. You mightent remember much about dating her but that lump of hardend coal will always remain a bit like food poisining three years after a burger king (Nice packaging but all that it does is leave a shíte taste in your mouth and make you feel sick for ages after.)

Just so you know there is still hope. If your really lucky you turn into a mean príck

Thanks.. I think :o If I've learnt one thing from it all, it's that if I get into another relationship I will thread carefully... I thought we'd grow old together, never saw the breakup coming. I was living in fantasy land. I really have learnt alot from this failed relationship, which has built me as a stronger more knowledgeable person. I'll make sure I don't make the same mistakes again.
