He was in a bit of a scuffle today.
Was calling a hippy a fairy and saying obnoxious crap like "oh I'm a gay hippy fairy" and prancing. The hippy was advancing on him. Hippy was a good bit smaller than him btw.
Then the hippy grabbed him and they fell to the ground. Couldn't see what was happening and it was split up pretty fast but i think they were hitting eachother.
Hippy was pissed off with his behaviour and homophobic remarks btw, not offended by being called gay.
Anyone esle see. i was disapponted your man wasn't hurt tbh he is a dickhead

Guy who stands in Templebar Sq every Sunday afternoon, usually just outside the Quays Bar. Has a guitar. Is a comedian. Slags off anyone STUPID enough to walk in front of him. Usually draws a pretty big crowd. Bit of a d*ck. Funny as hell. Dave McSavage. QED

I never saw him before. But no way was he funny today. Just angry and abusive, and fairly offensive with what he was saying about gay people. It was righteous anger that he inspired in his assailant, not personal offence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

people are afraid to stand up to him cos he is 'preforming'...if he said anything about me i'd sodomise him with his guitar...prick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

He's semi funny the first time you see him then the next time you see him you realise he's just using the same gags as before and he's complete twat and has been doing this for 6+ years at this stage and still isn't getting anywhere. I seen him get a chair to the head from some knacker in tb square before, one of his better shows.

I've seen him twice, once in Templebar and then in the UCD student bar for a comedysoc gig. He did recycle a lot of his material, but I thought he was funny (he picked me out for a slagging at Templebar, btw). Not the most sophisticated humour but some of his observations about his audience were pretty funny (D4 heads in UCD, tracker knackers in templebar etc).

He got the most laughs out of all the comedians in the UCD bar, though I heard he was blacklisted from ever being invited to UCD again... may have been the baby/wife gag!

I find this guy pretty pointless, I mean sometimes he can be almost close to witty, but most of the time he just points out obvious things and says them in a silly voice, e.g. "oh look at this guy with a red top... 'oohhh, I'm wearing a red top, lah lah lah...".

I saw him slag some scumbag before and the guy started to come back to him, he shat himself and said he was only joking, when your man walked off again he mumbled a few more insults. The way I see it, if you're joking that's cool, hopefully people will get it and enjoy it. If you actually just want to insult people then have the stones to back it up and don't hide it behind an act.

He's Ryan Tubridy's cousin. What a sad pair. But somehow they embody the spirit of modern Ireland.

Anyone who verbally abuses people minding their own business in the street is asking for a wallop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,846 ✭✭✭✭eth0_

Is he seriously Tubridy's cousin? hah.

I find him funny less than 1/3 of the time, which is pretty bad for a stand-up comedian.

I've heard he's pretty good in the International and the Ha'penny bridge comedy clubs, but I guess he wouldn't be half as abusive to people who are drinking because they're a lot more likely to beat the head off him.

Good comedians around Dublin: Dermot Whelan, John Lynn, Neil Delamere, Aidan Bishop.

I've never seen any of them doing 'street comedy'. I wonder why McSavage does it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,284 ✭✭✭pwd

Well he did fight back with this guy, but he was a lot bigger than him, so it just made him seem even more of a prick tbh.
I don't see how fighting people after throwing unprovoked acbuse at them would be any better.

Yeah, and he's former foreign minister David Andrews's son. Just a rich kid that's been bred to bully people one way or the other.

The best response to crap comedians who try to abuse their audience is just to tell them to "get on with the show."

If he ever picks on me i will say "Come up with something original you boring twat".
I would need a pre-formulated response because I would pretty much freeze being the focus of so much attention. I would find it extremely unpleasant and imagine a lot of people he does pick on feel that way.

he's a total prat. Not much humor in just slagging people off. Its fairly easy to do. Hopefully they'll arrest him again.

Why? So he can bang on about it for years to come in his 'act'? I'm sick of hearing about his arrest.

Someone on here drew a parallel between mcsavage and Tom Green which is interesting as both have little talent and are clearly suffering from serious mental health issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,246 ✭✭✭✭Riamfada

Tom Green was the bigest waste of Space EVer! Not funny. Pointless shock tactics . People Laughing at him not with him. No Dignity.

General Consensus Is He Is A Twat.
Admittedley He Makes People Laugh But That Doesnt Mean Hes Funny.

the only reasons that people laugh at him is 1)because of embarrasment and 2)becaude people laugh sometimes when they wanna kick lumps out of someone...he's not funny end of story

    3) Because they've never seen a stand up comedian perform before.

Compare that moron with Rich Hall doing his Otis Lee Crenshaw character, particularly his improvised song about audience members jobs.

You were going so well and then Aidan Bishop? He's a useless comedian, just rips off his brother's material and doesn't have the timing to make it work... I love some of Des's stuff but Aidan's just dragging along the coat dails.

Neil Delamere now, is a completely different story :)

Dear jesus - this old chestnut again.

I like him, i find him funny, most people who stand and watch him find him funny (or so I conclude from their laughter). Very few people actually have the guts to get out there and do it like he does - and I have seen him back it up with a drunken scumbag once who knocked over his guitar.

I for one, as someone who has felt intimidated walking through town am happy to see him take the piss out of scangers. Its a little moral victory (maybe its not - but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside).

Anyway I'm repeating myself a lot from the last thread on this - but just thought i'd offer a little balance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,366 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

I'm kinda with you here RE*AC*TOR, he's far from the best comedian in the world (or even Ireland) but he gets the odd laugh from me. Some of his stuff is abusive and uncalled for but for the mainstay I enjoy watching him if I'm passing through Temple Bar. Beats the little skangers singing the fields of Athenry anyway!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,799 ✭✭✭Tha Gopher

Hes brilliant in fairness, his insults have a bit of wit, its not as if hes just standing shouting "oi, wanker!" or whatever

His sets nearly always get ended by the cops on public order/obscenity grounds :D

Mind you they dont let anyone speak- the rapper and his beatboxer, that long haired Aussie who rants against Bush, aint no free speech in Temple Bar

Saw him on TV aswell and it was just pathetic, he's a real to$$er.

    Hey Dave,
Just to say that you are an arrogant cock, it's amazing how none of your responses really deal with events in a realistic fashion but rather create some sort of fantastical imagery that belongs in a kids adventure book.
I can't WAIT for the day somebody breaks your teeth in, but until then, best of luck with your amazing career.

I left this at his guestbook, jesus he's one hell of a nob, you can also contribute your views here

I think some of his stuff is funny because the people walking around Dublin are so steriotypical, and a large percentage of them deserve to have the piss throughally pulled.

However, you can imagine what sort of childhood this guy had... he must have suffered every type of abuse possible if he has to stand in the street with a microphone and slag off other people.

Which is ironic because I think he looks like a gimp aswell.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 790 ✭✭✭Redleslie2

He had an immensely privileged childhood.

, and a large percentage of them deserve to have the piss throughally pulled..

Wtf.A large percentage of people walking Dublins streets minding their own business deserve to be heckled by a flappy hairded git, because they are so "steriotypical"?

Yeah... they are so steriotypical its shocking.

On an average day you've got.. lets see..

The skangers ... schwa wearing tracksuits "ready for sport at any moment" schwa.
    The D4 heads roysh
    Plonkers showing off their girlfriends
Muppets trying to show off how rich they are by borrowing on their credit card

Its like a jungle, everybody showing their colours inventing ways to make themselves look great. Right down to the people looking at his show and smoking at the same time to make themselves look cool.

They're not really the most likable of people, I'm not blaming him for what he does but its not like 99.9% of people feel the need to make a scene about it in the street (except for the skangers, God love them).

Did he? Oh, well money isn't everything. He could still have been sent off to boarding school and had any number of things happen to him (and i'm not just talking sexual).

    The guy needs therapy.

Thats the biggest load of **** i've ever heard. Being of a certain stereotype and "showing off your colours" are different things.
It seems everything everyone does is part of a stereotype to you. "jesus i hate how everyone is walking these days.its so stereotypical".

And because of these people being part of a stereotype, it's ok for some other bender to call it comedy by shouting abuse at them? Tbh, it's bullying, all his little followers stand around laughing as he berates some poor soul trying to walk the road.
