    Opel Fruits - Starburst
    Jif - Cif

I prfer all of the original names rather than the new ones. Especially Coco pops. Choco Crispies sounds stupid.

You're still in my phone as Angelwhore. Too lazy to change it. :)

The lemon and lime opel fruits were the favourite sweets of my childhood and they have bastardised all the other flavours too.

opel fruits is a much better name too, starburst like?
what the fúck is a starburst?

i think the coco pops was something to do with the coco pops name being unpronable in asian countries.

think it was the same with jif. strangely enough, i find cif to be a lot less easy on the tongue.

i'd imagine opal fruits became star bursts because someone informed them that the sweets were in fact, not actually fruits.

A few more botched Kelloggs brands:

Seems like almost every rebrand that Kelloggs tried was undone later on.

Oh Kev you are hilarious! where is the logic there, they did not change the name of jif because We cant pronounce it!, and they were obviousely going to change it to a name we can pronounce, the fact that you find the former of the two easier to pronounce had no impact or validity on the change as the concerns of those discussing a change were firmly focused on changing the name to a name which when changed could be pronounced by all the people of the markets of the product, the aim was convergeance not divergence, in their minds what struck a core was the fact that certain races/peopi could not pronounce "jif"and so they concluded it must be changed as it happens it was changed to "Cif"

    Have I made myself clear?

Just a quick correction, KevIRL. It actually went Super Channel > NBC Superchannel > NBC Europe > CNBC, I believe.

Reminds me of a few others:

    Sky Channel > Sky One

The Children's Channel > TCC > Trouble > Don't know where it went or what it became after that! :D

Screensport on BSB (British Satellite Broadcasting) which was transmitted on the old Marco Polo satellite > Think this was integrated with Eurosport when Sky bought out BSB (someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

Sky Television > British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) after Sky bought out BSB (British Satellite Broadcasting)

I know there's been loads more renames and rebrands of various television channels over the years, especially on the Sky/Astra network, but I can't remember any more of them off the top of my head right now. I'm sure someone else here with a better memory than mine will point them out, though.

Trouble and TCC were two seperate channels from the same company (Flextech). The two did co-exist from 1995 to 1998.
Screensport were bought out by Eurosport alright. It used to be owned by WHSmith TV (as was Lifestyle). It was transmitted on Astra though, BSB had "The Sports Channel" which later became Sky Sports.

    Here's some more:

Sky Movies - Sky Movies Screen 1 - Sky MovieMax - Sky Movies Max - Sky Movies 2
The Movie Channel - Sky Movies Screen 2 - Sky Premier - Sky Movies Premier - Sky Movies 1
The Family Channel - Challenge TV - Challenge
TLC - Discovery Home & Leisure - Discovery RealTime
    Fox Kids - Jetix
