Just wondering if anyone has any experience of gym's in the dundalk area. Preferably somewhere newbie friendly.

Time I did something to get myself out of the >30 bmi category :o

I've been to the gym at the swimming pool a good few times. I'd advise giving it a look. Nice open place and tvs on a lot of the machines. Very modern

I had a quick look in there today during my lunchbreak. Is there a decent sized freeweight section? It didn't seem to be all that big from what I could see.

Anyone else know anything about dundalk's gyms? The gym on the ave road, or the ones in hotels round town?

    Felda on the Dublin Road.

Membership will set you back 500 for 12 months.

Looking to join up myself soon

thanks bazH, only I signed up for "The Gym" on the ave road last week. I didn't even know about the place you mentioned. I checked out the council one but the people didn't seem all that friendly + from what little I could see they didn't seem to have all that great a freeweight section. So I popped on over to the gym. Staff were much more friendly. Shame there's hardly any women working out there though

    Is Felda beside the fairways?

Yeah its the one near the fairways.

Heading up for a look this weekend hopefully.

Whats the sticker price for 'The Gym', is that the one behind Tesco's

If it is, its looks to have a good weights section, but would be a fair bit smaller than felda.

Peak physique is another one, but i think its closed/sold

Theres a GYM at the college, very very small, wouldn't be newbie friendly at all.

the gym have a few different rates depending on how you want to pay. I think you can pay 35 for membership then 20 a week after that.

I paid 175 for 3 months. I could have gone for the year (think it was just under 500) but thought against it, just incase I came across a better gym/didn't like The Gym.

yeah, it is behind tescos, just across the road from that Quoteline insurance place.

The gym itself is pretty much all weights. Hardly any cardio and it's much smaller than what felda looks like.

;) A few from work actually head over, but i don't have the get up and go to do that during the day, gawd knows im a heaving pile of sweat during the day anyway.

Sounds like an alright deal, I'll be checking out felda, have heard very good things about it.

I'd be more up for cardio
