Yeah, seemed like a nice chap. I liked the paint and wheels. But the chrome and accessories all over weren't my thing.

Without being too rude the interior was adorned with EVERY tacky accessory Halfords ever sold! I heard the comment made that it looked like a skip outside Halfords!!

To be fair though he was a nice chap who loved his car and at the end of the day thats what it is all about

Not taken by me but posted today on the official "Renault Classic" Facebook page (4L International event in France):

I recently bought one of these and wasn't really expecting to ever come across an Irish reg'd one. Does it belong to anyone here ?

^ @ Lutecia, is that a R9 convertible? The rear deck and lights look unusual, although it's a long time since i've seen one.
Congrats on your recent purchase, can i ask where you sourced it?

It looks like AMC's Renault Alliance, US spec. Unusual car.

    Indeed.
It is based on the R9/11. There aren't many around Europe.
Got mine in the south of Spain (uk reg'd though and currently in France).

If there is one that made it to a meeting in France, for sure this has been to an Irish one at some stage and someone here should have seen it before :D

9/11/Alliance/Encore - only it's mother could love it

Though the 9/11 Turbo MIGHT be a bit of a sleeper

I have to say I love mine.
It is a mix of 80's French engineering (very good handling, tough engine, rational FWD architecture, independant suspension etc) and American excess (super soft ride, mad fully red interior with thick carpet, leatherette and velours, chroms everywhere). It's kinda unique in its type.

To me those early straight door handles don't look quite right on a 1972 plate Mk 1. Any Mk 1 experts on here?

I checked the registration online and it is registered as a 1948 Cadillac Meteor, then when I Googled for images of "Cadillac Meteor camper" the first image brought me to a blog post about the very same camper with photos of it when it was for sale in Minnesota in 2008, some details about where it was built and so on in the blog.

No chance this year, been building a house for the last year more or less single handed. But I hope to have my life back in 6 or 8 weeks time when we finally move in, so I might get there next year, but then again the garden hasn't been started yet

I thought Swedish houses built themselves overnight, or were bought in kits in IKEA :P:P

2 and 4 door Amazon saloons are a common sight here but estates are few and far between, this one looks to have been well restored.

@w124man I have to go back to planning for a garage to the front of the house, if all goes well it'll be 3 or 4 car so that will do me just fine to start with.

@Capri No problem to buy a turn-key house here erected and ready to walk in, within 6 or 8 weeks if you don't mind paying the price. But I'm a miserable git and prefer to take the time and do it myself and save €200,000 that I don't have in the first place! ;)

Camaro SS, Mustang, M3, 840i, and other nice motors around (so different owners). A bit killing me as these are in my residence car park and have to see these everyday :p

"Recreation", "Homage" or "Tribute" are the preferred terms these days! :D

MyWheels has it listed as a white/beige 1.1L.
