Maybe not, I for one would cetainly prefer a Mk1 escort or Mk3 cortina over the 2002 or merc. For me it's down to the body shape and I'll allways go for coke bottle inspired over cornflakes box inspired. Modern ones have the additional offputing value of being "status cars" . That said there are beemers that I do like but the only merc I ever lusted after never went into production - the rotary powered W111(?). Horses for courses.

....that would be the C111. A W111 is as posted in that picture, the convertible one !

Pic looks like it was taken it Citywest Classic Sale. If you look you'll see a Satty and a T/A to the right so I guess we both know whose car it is. I was trying to work out if it was the '66 before it went down to John Linane or the '65 before it got its 'racing livery'. Either way I reckon the pic is 3+ years old!

I didn't take a pic cos I had no camera and I would have caused a crash if I'd tried but i spotted a "Mexican vomit" orange Vauxhall Viva Estate today. Just like this one :)

I might go and look at this... but I think €1750 is nearer the value.

May have been, I don't know, but back in early '77 were they not 40 series Starlets that looked completely different?

The model in this photo didn't come out until 1981 anyway.

Indeed,as it's a flat front car. I just didn't know the original 'bug eye' KP60 was around in early '77, as that's what the reg is. I thought they were introduced get in 1978.
