I thought the Charade GTI`s were called GTii`s with an extra i?.I always remember car mags slagging the name but not the car!

They were a GTti. The extra 't' was for the turbo!

    Thats right.
I worked on an Irish GTti years ago, it was the fastest car I had driven up until that point!

    Another old Pug

This was on the ferry beside me the other night (coming to Ireland). Took the pic earlier in the day though!

Saw this on the motorway, a kind of chopped Beetle that looked very rusty. Seemed fairly lively for a Beetle
    photo0419.jpg
Lots of smoke coming from it, UK number plate is on the roofrack.

Saw this recently in a breakers on the road to Ballyheigue, which, incidentally, I am looking for a phone number for. Lots of more modern cars, mostly Opels, but thought this was interesting.

I know where theres a GTti Convertible, supposedly one of only two built by Daihatsu, its a 2 seater, roof folds into where the rear seats would be in the hatchback

I often pass this retro garage on the A41 Whitchurch in Shropshire. It was closed last week when I called in,so I only managed to get a couple of crappy pics through the window but if your ever passing and into the classic stuff, its like stepping back in time.

.................nice car indeed. Photographed outside Tony Cannings place.

Curiously AZJ 500 does not show up on Cartell or MyWheels.ie (which is now a pay site btw)

It appears to have its rear badge "280SL" on the wrong side, and is also clearly not a 280SL. My guess is its a 230SL that has a few incorrect details. Perhaps it has been off the road for some years, but great to see an original Irish reg'd one !

Speaking of red SL's, there was a lovely R107 around Cork today; I thought it better to keep driving rather than whip out my phone to get a picture though. :)

I suppose its a bit of a wally thing to come on to a thread like this with NO PIC.

Was in a yard today and in the bushes spotted a VW Notchback ,i think they are called. not a variant, not a 411.

it had been rallied in its day, had a roll cage fitted. 1969 dub reg. pretty rotten, engine still in.
was originally red ,then painted lime green.

Perhaps it may ring a bell with someone.

Anyhow i took a pic ,on my phone but will have to get my son to transfer it.

    Thats a Fastback
    Is it available?

Deckie,, that vw is not ten miles from you. i was in the yard on another matter and took the picture without asking. It has been in a bush this years.
i ahd better ask them if it is for sale.

my nephew ,is somewhat interested. the car is f.cked, but clearly would be of value to someone with one , or someone who wanted to re shell and re create that particular one. there is an engine in it.

    Being a 4 door, isn't it a 411 or 412?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,786 ✭✭✭rugbyman

I saw Massey Ferguson today and while it was hardly a classic it had, to my mind anyway, a strange reg.

    QNI3188

I thought it might be a UK plate but it turns up on cartell in the irish section. It is the Q part that foxed me.

I thought it was only used in the UK for kit cars and stolen recovered yokes

Can anyone shed some light on it?

Q plates in the UK are always in the form Q 123 ABC I think.

Maybe QNI 3188 is a Northern Ireland reg?
