^^^^ Can't quite put my finger on where it's from, but I'd say it's probably NOT Dutch. Apart from the background being white, there's only one dash between the first pair of letters...

Yep,thinking about it id agree, you never see dutch cars without their correct plates because as far as i know they have to apply to the government for replacement plates, thats why you some times see a small 1 or 2 in the corner of the plate, which means its either the first of second replacement. This has neither, and its not a correct dutch plate as you have pointed out..

Where could it be from so...

The letter/number sequence could be German, from Bremen, but it's missing all the TUV/ASU tags.

A quick video update on Luks engine rebuild.

The are so many photos and video clips for Luke's Spitfire that Adrienne and I took its going to take me a while to go though them and get them in some sort of order.

I imported them into a programme I use to make DVD's and total time is 9.46 hours !!!! but I have just taken a few photos and a short video clip and made a 6 minute clip for now.

Great job done by Triumph Classic Owners Club team

    So do hope you enjoy..

Here is a quick update on Alan Egan's GT6 rebuild.

Its a short video clip on YOUTUBE.

Here is a link to it.

    a quick update

This morning a few of us met up at Alan’s garage to lift the tub / body back onto the chassis.
All went really well and smoothly with no issue’s.
I got a number of good photos, well 270 to be exact, but I will only post a few and a link to photobucket, for you to browse through if you like.
Another milestone Alan, well done. Terenure is getting closer !!!
Thanks to Martin, Tommy, Jason, John, Niall, Luke and who ever else were to lend a hand.

    Jack

Looks fantastic - looking forward to seeing it at Terenure.

Looks like there was no problem with the rocker cover after all - glad it all worked out.

Well :) I didnt say there was not a problem with it, yes you are correct it is a little proud and touching the bonnet and Alan is going to sort that. Thanks for the tip.

Also dont think it will be ready for Terenure only giving Alan a little slag over it but it will be there on the TCOC stand on trailer

There was a problem with the cover but off course it will be sorted, when the engine went back in they put 2 shims between the engine and mounts as the sump was sitting on the rack so this dont help, but think there is enough adjustment in the bonnet to clear the rocker cover. The other option is to buy a SAH cover off ebay thats the angled one at each end but they go for mighty bucks, the last one that i saw went for 335 squid:eek:.Also the original metal type is not as deep as the alloy one so that is also an option.

Fresh looking 22 year old LiteAce spotted in Trinity College.

On the way home from work this evening I met a 'boy racer' type in a dickied-up Starlet(?) on MZV XXX plates. The car was probably a good bit older than the driver! :)

I overtook a car with a little 7 on the dash on the Ring Utrecht. I have to wonder how bad an area they live in to have lost 6 plates!

The original metal one looks great if painted properly. Chroming is another option but it might look too 'bling' and it'll probably discolour from the heat. Speaking if underbonnet temperatures - is the manifold ceramic coated or just painted?

I can remember years back, I chromed my rocker cover and yes after a while they yellowed as such, personally I would go with the original, but I would say Alan will come up with something. It will be interesting to see what.

I think the manifold is painted in high temp, but again I am not sure. Maybe Alan or Niall would be able to answer that one.

Anyhow here is a short video clip, of the body and bonnet going on, it has music on it but sometimes youtube blank sound due to copy rights etc, so hope it works.

    Dutch?

    Definitely not Dutch.

Normal Dutch plates are Yellow with black letters, but classic cars can carry 'old style' Dark Blue plates with white letters.

We do have White license plates, but only for cars destined for Export with a 14 day temporary plate or trailers. So it could have a car exported from Holland, but as was pointed out, there's only one hyphen between the digits, but the biggest giveaway is that the script/typeface is distinctly different.

I suspect this is either a Chech or Hungarian or Romanian license plate, somewhere in that region... (althought they would normally always have a small national flag or symbol... )

My guess is Portuguese too. I remember from that huge barn find a few years ago that Dutch and Portuguese plates can look very similar, so Dutch wasn't a bad guess in the first place. Here's a good site with license plates.

Or maybe we will just have to wait until Silvera reads this and tells us for definite what it is :D

They're African imports IIRC, either that or Brazilian. The MK1 shape is still being sold new, although it has a modern interior etc. There was one for sale on carzone for around 11k up until recently. There is a name for them, but I can't for the life of me remember it.

It wasn't by any chance red?
