Life resembling Art? Who reminds you of yourself?

What fictitional characters remind you of yourself? I think we all have movies/books/stories we love because we can really identify with the main character. For me it'd be the character of Rob in High Fidelity (both the book and the film), or Harry in Tony Parsons' "Man & Boy".

So, which characters do you think are quite similar to yourself?

I just finished reading 'The Catcher in the rye" the other day, and not only do I think it's one of the best novels ever written, but I also identify with the lead character Holden Caulfield. I think everyone does though.. hehe.

When I was in college I was alot like Max Fischer from Rushmore... and many people would remark upon this too... I hadn't seen the film at the time though... but when I did see it realised what they were getting at...

I have no idea who I'd pick these days.... I'll have to ask the people who talk about me behind my back.. ha

No they don't, only if they are about 14. I re-read that when I was in my 20s and I really just didn't feel the same as I did when I first read it. Many books are meant to make you feel like the lead character anway.

I feel like Basil Faulty most of the time

Many people have remarked that Ed Nortons character in American history X reminds them of me. His character now, not his characters views.

Elle from the book by Carl Sagan called Contact reminds me of myself.

Well back in 87 in downtown Pigville there was a lot of anger and hatred between the locals and the authorities over the banning of sheeplove in the area.Sheeplove had been one of the most popular activities in the area for thousands of years so you could understand the fury amongst the locals.
All was set for a full blown pigville war until little Pighead saved the day(and probably hundreds of lives) by exploiting a loophole in the new ruling. And i'm proud to say that goatlove has proved just as popular as sheeplove ever was
So for preventing war and using peaceful methods to reach an agreement I compare myself to that fantastic fictional character from the brilliant 1982 film that went by the name of Gandhi(Copyright Trigger)

Well, I sure identified with it, and I'm 28. Disillusionment in the world perhaps? Maybe I'm just a cynic, like all those teens.

Maybe the reason you haven't seen him is because he's supposed to be a fictional character

I've been told I resemble Jeremy Irons, I don't see it myself
Also Kramer from Seinfeld (more in actions than in looks methinks)

I've changed the title to make it more clear, it was fictitional characters I was talking about. Their personalities/characters than their looks. :)

Major von Hapen from Where Eagles Dare.

The fact that the actor went on to star in numerous dodgy skin flicks has no bearing on my everyday life. ;)

    Yeah,I agree.
I used to identify with good old Holden but I read it again recently and he actually really pisses me off!
I think I could be julia roberts in "My best friend's wedding" tbh

Either her or Clay from the book "Less than zero"

The main guy in The Girl Next Door.

Not all the porno parts, but the opening scene really reminded me of myself.

"Mayor Quimby" and "Dougal" are the only two that come to mind at the moment that I've been likened to.

Never really thought about it myself.

    John Dorian - Scrubs

...also Steve* Buscemi, but only once, by this guy who definitely wasn't in the business of flattery

    *Not sure if that's right

If I may meander slightly off topic for a second, I'm just wondering what pissed you off about it? And why you think he's .. umm.. immature I guess is what you are saying?

He is acting his age I guess so he isn't really immature as such but he certainly isn't acting like an adult. When I was younger I related because of the knowledge I had then now I am older I know more. He is from a well to do family self involved and hasn't a clue. Now he just seems whiney and the conformast view of the world he has is also really black and white and I would say inaccurate. He appears like a poor little rich kid to me now and not some torture soul trying to figure out life.
I prefer Kevin Arnold as he does stupid things with the adult prospective pointing out the problems and or logic.

After this weekend, I'm definitely feeling like Rob. I now have to go into work on Monday and face the new girl after waking up beside her yesterday morning. Now, this in itself wouldn't normally bother me. The problem is, I've a blackout from Friday night so I've no idea what anyone else knows. Hopefully, we managed to be discreet about leaving together, for her sake more than mine. Man, why is my sex life always so messy...

I agree with that to a certain extent. I mean I still cry at the end of the book every time and all but when I was younger the tears were for Holden and now they're more almost just tears of nostalgia.
To me now I just see Holden as a kid who thinks deeply about life and "mature" issues but in a slightly immature and sheltered fashion.
