Hm, I got the same reply, and set of instructions.

    They also said that
"We are aware of a potential issue with the bas001 server"

Pings sucked last night, until sometime after 11pm, then they went back to 'normal' (or at least playable)

    Zardor.

You would think since it is their server on their network they would be able to get to the bottom of it without having to make us, the customers, run diagnostic checks for them

Got the same response. My ****ing game hosting company is so much more professional than them. IF theres a problem with their network you'll know about it in less than 3 minutes. Takes a week for iol to acknowledge anything.....

is this bas001 a server or a router?
Check my previous tracerts as I do not even touch this, so the problem is not only with bas001.

I'm glad they are aware of a problem  however, more importantly are they going fix it? I'll post my email later on when I get a proper response from them.

Imagine if you purchased a phyiscal item. It kept screwing up, so you take it back to the store that manufactured it (not just sells it). They reply 'we are aware of a problem with that product' and then expect you to leave it at that???

this has been going on for way to long. What pissses me of the most is that you can get 22Mb connection for half of what we are paying in a country not to far from here. BUH

I had always thought that the basxxx were exchanges up until I noticed that most people used bas001 and that everyone here doesnt live in shankill :S.

Last time when I had a problem similar to this they just didnt do anything and waited for it to just go away by itself (which it did). That was only 2 an a half weeks ago though....

BAS - Broadband Access Server. I think they can have hundreds of connections, it's the terminal between the ATM network and the internet backbone, so the DSLAMs feed into it....everyone feeds into these BASes.

Has anybody gotten any kind of serious response from iol regarding this issue, yet?

I mailed them last thursday, got the standard response.
I sent that back on friday, and it's being escalated.

It's really starting to piss me off.
As i'm sure it is, everyone else.

It only really happens in the evenings.
It's been fine all day today til about 4pm.
Now it's gone to hell again.

My experience of it too. It was totally fine till 4ish. It's always the same response.

"We can't really do anything about it at this level. I can escalate it if you want but the 2nd level won't do anything about it either."
