punk is lost to the corporations you so half heartedly oppose, while consuming there premium goods and services.

Well you obviously never got it.

Punk could never be lost to anything. Punk is the energy that usually coems from anger at corruption or from anger caused by pain atributed by society and the c**ts in it. Punk was and is the pure in the rare music you can find it in. I
It was the "**** you" in the sex pistols because they weren't saying it just to say it, they were saying it cuz they felt like it and they meant it. Its the bands actually singing about politics and social issues because they believe in it and because they want people to know the other (real) side and not so they can sell anarchy patches.
Punks not dead and hasn't just now been claimed by corrupt sources. In the 70s and 80s girls were raped in punk pits by "punks" and no one ever stopped them. Yes you could say there musta been a few assholes but there hasnt been an aknowledged attempt to stop any of the hundreds of publisied rapes so was this punk just because it happened in a real punk scene before punk was "dead"? What about ari up being attacked and stabbed by an audience member after a gig?!
Punk will never be dead but it will never be complete either. It's the pure and rebelious energy in music, people and the way they express themselves (fashion, clothes, hair, art, writings, etc). Same way as I'd never say I've met a punk... because I know no one's perfect. And I believe the whole "be yourself" to punk comes from A) not letting others tell you what to think or how to live and B) that our thoughts on how to live without curruption and how to think and basically what curruptions is will never be exactly the same even between 2 people
and no one can tell you what punk is you just have to feel it. But I seriously think anyone who thinks it's dead underestimates it and obviously anyone who includes any compramise into the ideologies or beliefs in punk underestimates it too

Apparently your definition is to be blindly obnoxious and arrogant towards anyone you disagree with.My definition? One word:integrity. That's why I think people like Rory Gallagher and John Martyn had a no-bull**** Punk attitude without their music being of the same origin as bands like the Ramones and Patti Smith.

Punk is a music genre. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop over analysing it.
