    Quod erat demonstrandum

    Not sure about the spelling!

    What does e.g. stand for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 320 ✭✭Sysiphus

QED, could well be Queen Lizzy,

    The two i have

    1. as already stated - Quad erat demonstratum (my spelling is prob wrong as well!) meaning that which has been demonstrated

    2. Quantum Electro Dynamics - the study of sub sub atomic paticles

e.g. - example Given, though i'm sure this is a vulgar translation of an actual latin term..

aside, I alway heard that f.u.c.k. was forced unlawfull.... ie. (wher'd that come from??) rape, and was an old legal term.

speaking of law name two things (i'm sure there's more) that a Public House can't refuse you.

I believe refusing someone the use of a payphone is illegal also.

Presumably only to call the emergency services, not calling home or rekiavik (sure there's a g in there somewhere!)

Alexander graham bell wasn't the first person to use a telephone, his assitant was, he called bell in another room, and bell was the first to answer the phone.

and delilah didn't cut samsons hair. her servant did

Thomas edison wasn't the first to invent the light bulb. He just patented it first, robert swan invented it first.

Shark's have to keep moving otherwise they drown, also the majority of the sharks brain (80% or something) is devoted to the sense of smell!

Superglue was invented by the military for use on the battlefield for quick repair and sealing of wounds.

All I can think of for now!!!

Tom Watson's first words on the phone were "Mr Watson, come here I want you"? Shurely shome mishtake (edit: and in any case Antonio Meucci might have a few words to say about the first guy to use the phone)
