Since this is the Table quiz forum, how about a thread where you ask a table quiz style question, and whoever gets it gets to ask another. Just like all those specific ones, except about anything.

    I'll Start.

Why did Daniel Defoe change his name, and what was it before he changed it?

Daniel Foe he added the De to sound fancier.
I had to google that. Probrbly could have guessed it.

Name all the movies Kevin Smith has directed, from Clerks to Jersey Girl. (There, gave you 2 already.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,284 ✭✭✭pwd

There was a bit more to it than just sounding fancier! DeFoe is the Norman equivalent of the Saxon name Foe. In DeFoe's time, there was a very snobbish attitude regarding Normans and Saxons, with the Normans making up the ruling classes mainly, and the Saxons being seen as inferior. DeFoe pretended to be a Norman, even while voicing strong opinions against this sort of attitude! Such a cad and a bounder! :)

mall rats, jay and silent bob strike back, dogma

    is this correct?

In the novelette, "The Outsider", a man is killed essentially because of his refusal to conform his attitudes to those considered correct by his society. The author describes the protagonist as the only sort of hero we are worthy of having. Who was the author?
