lyca mobile now using the eir network

just ported my number over lyca mobile at 8 euro a month unlimited every thing as two weeks ago there using the Eir network as they don,t use the three network any more in ireland

I noticed that as well wirh my €5 data only Lyca esim. I assumed it was a bug with the eSIM.

I have a Lyca eSIM. I paid for a small data plan about a week ago.

I notice I can choose between 5G/LTE/3G/2G for LM.

For Clearmobile it’s 5G/4G only (Vodafone network)

That's because there's not a proper carrier file for Lyca Mobile on iPhone afaik, some other MVNOs are the same also.

Yeah I do remember seeing that before but it was quite hidden. It still has a 100GB FUP and is for 12 months, €15pm thereafter.

It's a pity the discounted plan "reverts" to the more expensive price after the 12 months. They could otherwise have less customer churn if the discounted price renews "as is" once you renew for another 12 months.

At least you get a year for 8 euros and wen it goes to 15 euros you can just port to a better price or an other network if ye chose

Yeah they've added the €12.99pm plan which is just as is and not discounted for 12 months. They still have a FUP in place with this plan though, 200GB.

All of their plans get speed limited to 128Kbps once the FUP is passed, they shouldn't be allowed to advertise it as "unlimited" with this FUP in place IMO.

I just checked my LM eSIM on my iPhone.

WiFi calling is a selectable option.

That's one of the symptoms of not having a proper carrier file again, it shows in settings but does nothing once it's enabled. Now it could be that it is now available as they've switched to Eir but I would assume it's just the carrier file.

I had the “Unlimited” 5G €110 year plan before. Albeit on the Three network. I don’t recall having any issues.

LM offers a sizeable EU data allowance on that plan (25.5GB).
Wonder how good it’ll work though?!

All other networks have removed a set cap for new customers in their FUPs whereas the set cap is still there and enforced with Lyca. If you know you won't use that much in the month then it's not an issue.

I just tested my LM WiFi calling and can confirm that it didn't work.

Airplane mode and WiFi on.

Dialed and immediately got voicemail, no ringing out involved.

Yeah, it's just the carrier file so. LTE is also shown instead of 4G when there's not a proper carrier file.

Huh.. I wonder why they switched from Three to Eir. This also means that Lyca is the first non-Eir owned MVNO since they own GoMo. Would be interesting to see if other networks follow, it means that Three's network technically just became less congested, which is a good thing.

Does VoLTE work I wonder? I know that Wi-Fi calling doesn't but can someone test?
