Question for Job Interview - DEI - Diversity, Equality, Inclusion - what is best answer?

A friend and I saw the same ad for a job interview and applied.

We both got an interview!

She had hers today and told me she was asked twice about implementing DEI at work. It's a bit odd as it's a more junior level of management recruitment is not part of it.

Does anyone know the correct answer to give as mine is early next week?

Does it mean some form of positive discrimination?

If that happened to me ... why I don't know what I would do ... I think I would have to tweet about it complaining about the staff on minimum wage discriminating against me.

What is the job? What kind of company? Your answers would depend on those factors for a start. The fact you need to ask here doesn't bode well either.

Certainly nothing to do with DIE. I'd suggest looking into DIE in the workforce before the interview and hope they don't read your social media. As you haven't replied with further information, as asked for in other replies, I get the impression you're not serious about this.

Also DEI isn't just about recruitment - it's about ensuring that the workplace is respectful and a safe place for all employees regardless of their race or sexuality. The key is the I for Inclusion. That you wouldn't exclude someone solely because of those things.

You seem to have really gotten your back up about this which would be a concern if you have to deal with any hard questioning in a job about your interactions with people. Maybe instead of attacking people like that actually do some research on what DEI actually is and how it doesn't just link to recruitment.

“laws of discrimination” have EVERYTHING “to do with DIE” - the last word in the acronym (Equality) is the concomitant (as in opposite) of discrimination i.e. “laws against discrimination” (which is clearly what the first poster meant)

Clearly intended to elicit further Qs/comment from the applicant because:

1. every employer (above a certain size) must have DIE policy(ies)
2. every division/department/function must have process(es) to deliver the policy(ies)
3. every employee is required to know, understand, and follow their department process(es)
4. and audit process(es) required to give compliance assurance across all divisions/departments/functions

so you would answer the Q in the context of point 3. (which applies to every employee) plus 1,2,3 according to your actual job role

Many employers are happy to employ the cheapest candidate who is good-enough. The best candidate is usually outside of the hiring budget.
