Firearm substitution

Hi all,

I'm substituting the rifle 22 for 22 so should be no problem as its like for like. I'm guessing I'm allowed to hold on to the current rifle until the sub license comes through yeah ? Then I can hand it in to a dealer to sell or trade etc.

Any time i put in a sub i had to give in the old one to the dealer first he put the details on the sub form and then i handed it to the garda station

Same as that for me.

However, IIRC, once a sub licence is issued the old licence doesn't expire on the Garda system for 30 days.

Gardai won't process a sub unless original firearm is out of your possession in my experience.

That is true too. Some "demand" the firearm being subbed is stored in an RFD before the new one is processed. To the extent they want an RFD note or in the case of a private sale, the firearm licence details of the new owner.

lot of the time you will have to hand in your firearm your sub from as technical your no longer licensed holder of it
