I dunno! I remember this date in 1992 aswell. I was in 6th year. It had been a cold showery September. It reached around 20c that last day of September, one of a handful of nice days. It sticks out as an uncle died of a heart attack the day before and I got out of school (boarding) for the funeral that evening.

Sryan mentioned a 25.8c September temperature on the 28th of the month. I'm pretty sure it was 1985. That was an amazing temp 3 days from October.

September finished up slightly cooler than average 0.4c below normal at Dunsany and slightly wetter than average with 77.7mm of rainfall which is about 4mm above average. This is the first cooler than average month since January 2025 which also finished up slightly cooler than average.

More than 50mm of rain expected for parts of Kerry and Cork tomorrow, not going to be a pleasant day anywhere!

a Foehn day, note the only 20s are Dublin and the Moray Firth, I’m surprised N Wales hasn’t hit 20.

A lovely day today, 19C with some sunny spells, certainly noticeably warmer than any day over the past few weeks but I have to admit to myself now it's not the summer anymore and on we go into another 6-8 months of autumn.

Gorgeous evening in Dublin 2. In my tshirt, no jacket. Great to see, before a dismal forecast 😬 Galway Bay Run in Salthill this weekend. Should be interesting IF I was taking part, but know a few taking on some of the distances on the prom. Legacy wind from Fridays event no doubt. 😁

It's mad I needed gloves and running jacket for a jog last week now I'm just finished running on the coast in summer attire. So warm even the sea breeze is warm.

The prom can be a nightmare in a road race when it's windy. I've run that one before (half) and I think it goes out to the the Mutton Island poo factory. That causeway is often a hoot - either too much headwind to run or an excessive tailwind that nearly knocks you over.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Yip @Cluedo Monopoly three years ago myself. Kind of glad not me and the elements Saturday though Fridays forecast would be a worst scenario for getting through it 😀

yes, 20c today, I can’t get my head around how so many people were dressed like it was below zero in the middle of January, I did notice some American tourists in the city centre today in T-shirts though.

Didn't feel overly warm in Wicklow today. I'm in a heavy jumper all day and a small fire on now too. I wouldn't call it cold but I definitely wouldn't be going around in short sleeves.

Was out taking down the trampoline around 8pm and it was so mild. Very calm and very mild. A lovely evening.

Heavy rain here in Galway. Wet gear well and truly soaked. Dog soaked. Nice warm breeze.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Nice morning in Dublin. I suspect that is it for a few days! Pure pig fest for next 72 hours!

The rain in Dublin and along the east coast has yet to materialise and when it does, it will be light. This rainfall event has been exaggerated. The west is having a typically wet day. I reckon the weekend should be reasonably good weather wise in Dublin after some ordinary wet and breezy weather tomorrow.

Yeah, cycling into work last week was hat, gloves etc, whereas it's t-shirt weather this week. I always say the warmer it stays for October the better, for once the clocks go back, that's it!!

No wet feet on the morning walk at 9am. Phew. Still no rain in East. Might be different for the daughter gone to the Midlands for a school game.

Valentia's 25.9C on 28th Sep 1985 seems a little suspect, only realistic reason I could think it was that high was foehn. Even Casement in Dublin had 24.3C that day though. Ardfert averaged a 10-day average above 20C for the final 10 days of Sep 1985, that's at least 5C above average.

No. This is not just a wet day in the west but I'm minded to think you already know that

I think the heaver rain is due later today in Dublin. I think from the onset that the heavy rain was a West / North West event as opposed to a Dublin event.

Rain should reach Meath/Dublin area within the next 2 hours, it's getting closer.
