a horrible damp, dark, mild, mouldy day of misty Atlantic pigmuck here in Meath.

Ireland currently the overall warmest place in Europe by a long shot! Ok we can't beat southern Greece but we are the only country entirely covered in mild yellow.

You know it's almost winter when I start posting these European temperature maps with Ireland out on it's own in terms of overall mild.

    That is some map!

Look at France and Spain, so much colder than us. You just have to laugh. The sheer power the radiator that is the Atlantic has on us.

Our luck has to change sometime though. A potent NE’y wind in the heart of winter will change that colour to a lovely dark blue!

A shame this only happens once every 10 to 15 years. Other than that we're green or yellow all through winter with maybe one or 2 days in light blue. We're also usually the only country still in yellow during the summer!

Yes we’re under a mild airmass, 14c across parts of Ireland and Scotland. Milder air on its way to other locations. Below ecm Letterkenny vs Helsinki , Helsinki stays above freezing throughout 10days.

I can see a -28 on that map in Russia, could you imagine those temperatures here? Our extremely poorly built houses and apartments struggle once it goes below zero, but -28 😯 Still mad to see that ourselves and Scotland of all places are the warmest in Europe at present!!

I doubt they even look at outlier charts, they just print the same rubbish every week with nothing to back it up and change the odd word here and there. The sad thing is there are probably elderly people who read these articles and panic every time they see it.

Nice sunshine here in Castlebar after a wet morning. Good drying in a fresh SW wind

Almost warm enough to be outside in a T-shirt with the sun shining, currently 15C at Dunsany! 16C is possible today somewhere in the Dublin region.

There absolutely is people that look at those charts but I've told people to not believe much from Galway beo especially weather related , you're probably right they most likely don't even look at any models and just slap a headline together

Wow, 15C at Dunsany at the very end of November. I wonder was it topped anywhere else? The lawn mowers will be heard again!

I'm feeding the cattle at the moment. Dark with the moon and stars yet no frost. Just a mild wind.

Interesting report of "freezing rain" (which is obviously false) at Casement when it's 6C.

Possibly soft hail/hail? Was looking at NOAA obs for Casement and just rain reported at 0800.

the weather in Ireland is just so blah in October and November.

I was looking at photos yesterday of my brother and his family over in Bologna and they were all wrapped up in coats and scarves! Its very cold in Italy but dry and bright with the sun shining, just beautiful. And in Summer its dry and hot. We are nearly underwater in Ireland at this stage. Ground is absolutely saturated.

I hike a lot in Kerry and its pretty unpleasant and unpredictable in Winter as the mountains are full of streams and muck, making it very difficult underfoot. Hoping January might bring colder drier weather.

Took the words out of my mouth, an absolute dog's dinner of a morning in Dublin, I was like a drowned rat when I got into work. Has cleared up now though, although knowing my luck it will probably return for the cycle home 🙁
