Starting this early as the mixed doubles actually starts tomorrow.

Hopefully the final grand slam of the year will be a good one!

The new mixed doubled format is a complete farce imo.

    From Wikipedia:

The matches will be played in best-of-three-sets with short sets to four games, no-ad scoring, tiebreakers at four-all, and a 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a third set. The final will be a best-of-three set match to six games, featuring no-ad scoring, with tiebreakers at six-all with a 10-point match tiebreaker in lieu of a third set

I mean, this will be the most asterisked grand slam title of all time surely. It's essentially an exhibition, but with a one million dollar prize fund.

Very insulting to the doubles specialists who have gone before

Surely they should be actually trying to make the doubles and mixed doubles more important and use it as a way of propping up the players outside of the top 100 so you have more pro players.

It would make more sense to start the doubles after 3rd of 4th round of the singles is over and allow 3 or 4 wildcard teams of singles players who've been knocked out to enter and increase the standard and prestige and attention for the doubles events.

at least Dramacanu and Alcaraz are out already. I do hope he stays away from her for his own sake.

Kind of a weird comment tbh. Not entirely sure what, if anything, is "dramatic" about Raducanu. The continued harassment she gets from certain sections of people is really weird.

Anyway, reminder that the US Open singles actually starts today rather than the usual Monday.

Non stop drama with her. Changing coaches like socks, injuries, unwell on court regularly. All very brave little soldier stuff. Very surprised you don't see it.

Yeah, I'm really not sure how suffering injuries and illnesses can be described as being "dramatic". Raducanu has zero control over these things. She's had three surgeries before she even turned 21. A very strange point of view to have, I think.

Anyway, Raducanu is into the second round with a 61 62 win over Shibahara, her first win at the US Open since she won the whole thing.
