My biggest turn off is my aversion to long handle putters. Can't deny Scott's fine record and if he wins -full credit to the guy but basically he's yesterday's man. Hovland is a talented young European and I would hope he can win make a Major breakthrough and build a significant career while Scott is plying the Seniors tour 😁

Of course it makes no difference to me -it's just an expression of feelings and preferences.

Despite winning a Masters Scott has a very poor record on the final day of majors when in contention. He's a lot older now though so maybe he'll be better today.

Personally I'd love to see Burns win it. I'll win money if he does but even if I had no financial benefit he'd be the one I'd be shouting for. Then the underdog JJ Spaun would be a wonderful winner.

I remember during COVID he played on the Arizona golf tour and struggled, he was a PGA tour member at that time but did nothing there. He's done pretty well since then.

Yes I watched the Arizona tour during COVID.

He might have been as low as 250 in the world back then. He's 25 now.

I’d love to see Scott win it. Such a swing, and a career that is shy on big wins for such a good player

Rory finishes his round today on -3. 6 birdies and 3 bogeys, so overall, it's +7. That was his first round under par I think(in this tournament for sure), and the last time it was held here.

Probably like Scott to win, lovely bloke has statyed in real golf when offers would have been made ...but he is brutal with that long stick .

Hovland a real character would love him to win.

Other two seem nice enough lads and great demeanour on course ...get on with it no drama ..if Spaun looks a bit slow...

I don't remember burns being this good ? He genuinely looks the part out thee...

🤣 Face on Spaun - this game and course can perplex even the best pros in the world - flag hit 50 yards away - lol what a place

That's a tough and horrible break for Spain. I had to watch it a few times. His approach looked great, it would have likely been a close birdie attempt. Except it hit the flag stick, spins back off the green and he'll have a 50 yard chip coming up.

Spaun makes bogey on 2, to follow his bogey on 1.

This place challenges you - one min you think it is a great US open - then you have an event happen like Spaun there and you go - ok this daft . 2 / 3 shots swings in 1 shot.

There was good footage of the first hole there with a drone and it showed the undulations that is struggling to come across in footage.

Scott, Spaun(2) and Hovland have all dropped shots early doors.

Windy out - over par suddenly looks good.

If Scheffler wins this - I give up majors. But he won't too far back

Scottie could come back into the mix!

Whilst Sky will push that - dont see it , too many bodies and errors above him required , leaders will settle on one will have a few birds.

Hatton is such a pain - get on with it.

Oh ya. It's only gotten worse. The final 2 pairings are +8 after 3 holes.

I know I should get this and the pro game is the pro game - but call me old school - why does viktor have to hit every single drive like it is a long drive contest. The course isn't that long. There has to be a plan b off tee for some of these guys.

Commentator just said no player in the last 17 pairings is under par.

You're posting an awful lot for someone who said the leaderboard is muck :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,452 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Spaun is having a mare thus far, 5 bogeys in 6 holes. Currently +2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,213 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

    And what is you point.

    You wouldn't prefer

    Rahm

    Rory

    Shane

    Bryson

Even bloody Scheffler , Spieth or Thomas or Keopka

It is a major - I watch every major.

But Golf is struggling for true stars with Phil and Tiger gone , and LIV is a mess -

The highlight for tonight is hoping Scott winning or a Rookie winner falling over the line. That is just not my vison of a classic - what is yours ?

Clever from Hovland - runs in bunker before sand got too wet .

For me this has been the least enjoyable major in a long time. Even the commentators are getting it hard to sound excited and it's their job to sell it. Now the feckin rain - that's all we needed.

Why are they not using Rain Gear
