Yes, that would be correct, you get opinions on an opinion board, you will note that I did not say he said that in the original post.

I will try to be more clear when I give an opinion over a fact.

Your conclusion, with no basis in fact. Your prerogative to dislike the guy but I believe you're obliged not to write misleading stuff here.

    I don't dislike Tubridy, I don't know him.

I am pointing out that it looks bad for him, from my point of view, and my conclusion is, he has no intention of paying back the €150k and that he and his team are looking through RTÉ's files about him.

The question was why is he doing this? and I made a suggestion, that he maybe considering suing RTÉ, in my opinion.

I don't believe he has ever ruled out suing the broadcasters.

Looks 'bad for him' based on a dodgy supposition. Stop digging.

Well what do you think? or do you just ask questions?

There used to be a saying on boards.ie "play the ball not the man".

I don't speculate without knowledge. You've done that in this instance.

So why go on an opinion board?

This is how it looks so far: -

Tubs and Noel are asking for Data about themselves from RTÉ, to what ends?

Neither have declared that they do not planning to sue RTÉ, RTÉ have confirmed that they are working with both to decide what information can be released under Data Protection laws.

RTÉ have said that Noel and Tubs do not have any legal proceedings against them.

A survey in the Independent shows that 55% of respondents believe Tubs should return the 150k he suggested he would return.

In that same survey 12% suggested he'd make a good replacement for Joe Duffy.

Meanwhile Tubs and Noel over the last 2 years are trying to recover lost ground (in fairness to them).

    Does this suit your narrative?

If I feel like it I will make an opinion even if it is just speculative.

Anyone can make a data access request, I have done so my self. The issue here is that RTE spent 100+k of taxpayers money in legal fees, on some of the top legal eagles in the land. Why not give the data, as requested and required to by law? One might be left thinking there is something to hide.

Where's the factual basis for saying he won't repay the €150k owed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,415 ✭✭✭RoTelly

Where did I say that? In the post that you quoted?

Sorry I must have miss-spoken but the only thing I said in relation to him giving back 150k was

A survey in the Independent shows that 55% of respondents believe Tubs should return the 150k he suggested he would return.

This does not say "he won't repay the €150k owed". It says he suggested he would pay it back, he hasn't so far.

According to KB4, he would like to see it returned.

    yep!

So this wasn't you on May 29th?

"His reasoning … I am going to sue and if I fail to win that I won't return the 150k….."

Oh! From the previous post which I stated was my opinion of what is happening, but not on the post that you quote, by which I was correcting my opinion and providing the facts, but still your not happy!

Why do you love Turbidity and RTÉ so much?

So it wasn't you stating the things that you now deny? Everyone is allowed a U-turn I suppose.

Hold on we've being having a conversation about this, you asked

    Where did he state that?

Which I explained was my opinion

    You then said "supposition"

    and I agreed

    You then suggested

Your conclusion, with no basis in fact. Your prerogative to dislike the guy but I believe you're obliged not to write misleading stuff here.

which is not the case, in my opinion.

You continued on your loop of I don't give opinion without knowledge, which is your prerogative

With that I then presented the facts as they currently stand, and which I though you'd agree with

You then quoted this post and asked

Where's the factual basis for saying he won't repay the €150k owed?

I then asked were did I say that in the post you quote

and you very politely say "yep"

You then went back to the first post on which I opinion on what Tubs is doing, rather than a fact which I clearly stated was an opinion, after you had put it to me this was not a fact, upon which I agreed.

But you seem to want continue on this loop.

I hope Tubs will pay back that 150k, but guess what I don't think he will, but that is just my honest opinion on the facts as they now stand. It's been 2 years. And IMO RTÉ don't want to have to even answer the question "Has he paid back the 150k" or "Do you think he should" KB4 doesn't want to hear those questions he's moved on.

A false claim followed by supposition followed by denial.

I don't care about Tubridy but he at least deserves facts over gossip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,415 ✭✭✭RoTelly

    What are you talking about?

    What I am denying?

If you think Tubs deserves the facts, then post them. But leave me out of it. I have put them here and I have put my opinion on them here, if anyone wants to put the facts up put them up. I think I have on several occasions.

And I have corrected any presumption that what I suggested was a fact over an opinion.
