Bit of artistic licence but put a screen grab from yesterday through a filter and picked up the lightning better, also took out the telephone pole and line , loads of noise and I'm only looking at it on the phone, probably poor when enlarged but giving it a go anyway 😀

Off the Dingle Peninsula, not far from the Murrioch/Ballydavid area, the Three Sisters. Photo snagged from FB

A different view from the Dingle Peninsula. Reminds me of ball lightning but it isn't.

Portarlington too, although earlier they were showing lightning from 2am to 5 so it's reduced down

I wouldn't get hopes up. Similar lightning forecasts were issued for my area earlier this week and previously. There were no storms.

Very tricky to forecast, as is known. I'll trust some sources on here more.

Met Eireann seem to see a risk also. Their latest text reads embedded thunderstorms tonight.

I don't see a risk myself but happy to be proved wrong!!

Would think the best chance of an isolated thunderstorm, albeit slight, developing in peak diurnal heating towards the East this afternoon/ late afternoon.

I always go by temperature more than others on here. 13 - 14c is just too cold for thunderstorms here despite the instability and the heat still in the land.

A few rumbles and torrential rain here in South Kildare.

No surprise there, sparking as soon as they reach England

Looks impressive on Sat stretching into North Wexford on its south end

It’s wall is approaching us here near Arklow now

Haven’t heard any thunder but you’d expect it

Here’s hoping as we have t had a decent storm in a good while but I’m not overly confident 🙈

I imagine the scenes in Northern Italy are quite spectacular. What I would pay for some of that action ⚡️ ⚡️

Looking at a webcam for north of Lake Garda earlier. The occasional strike was visible

Will see tonight's charts if tomorrow keeps up the look of having some scattered thunderstorms moving across the country as the upper trough goes more negative and the center of the surface low gets closer to the NW feeding in bands of rain which on the latest charts look heavy in places and some hefty accumulations along Atlantic counties . Strong winds across the country and inland areas will be feeling it much more tomorrow accompanied with the driving rain.

Probably on the + side of marginal tomorrow I would have thought for a few sporadic isolated thunderstorms, soundings below for North of Galway near Tuam.

The best chance of a storm probably in the Northern half of the country and maybe around the W or NW, N with the most chance nearest the circulation of the LP and with the most instability. Small chance and very hard to pinpoint, lots of heavy convective showers streaming in over the country, cool and windy.
