I am 59 (60 this year) BMI of 29 weight of 92Kg and have been given a treadmill as a gift yesterday , looks a pretty decent one .

not very fit and well out of shape i dont even go outside walking , but i really feel like i want to persevere if I can and hopefully keep up using this treadmill , try and get a bit of weight of and even if i managed to get down to 25 BMI (or is that too optimistic) - not looking for miracles I know I most probably have to adjust my diet as well as excercise but I want to see how I get on with the treadmill first.

so I used it for the first time today . starting at 20 kph and managed to do 0.38km and done 502 steps in 12mins and apparently burned 26.9 calories - heartbeat got up to 106BPi - not going to win any medals , very wrecked and was sweating really bad , sweat dripping off head and my back was soaking and t-shirt wearing was soaked - felt dizzy when I stopped , legs tingling for hours afterwards - all to be expected I suppose bear in mind this is the first time I have ever been on a treadmill in my life.

what I want to ask is , shall I keep up at this pace of 2kph at 12mins and 500 steps daily like this or should I up the regime on the treadmill - ie faster speed or more time or more steps , what do you all reckon?

    Thanks,

    Andy.
