As you said it’s 3000 mins for a €10 recharge (every 14 days)

Eir prepay add ons are 28 days

    1GB €4.99

    10 €9.99

VoLTE and VoWiFi are essentially VoIP services. The provider needs to have an IMS, which is the server that plays the same role as a telephone exchange switching system in a circuit switched network.

I suspect some of those cheap MVNOs simply haven’t got IMS hardware or haven’t made any provision to lease wholesale capacity from someone else, so they’re just still using some old circuit switched voice equipment,

ComReg needs to step in really. The big MNOs aren’t even necessarily going to fully support circuit switched voice fairly soon. It’s ridiculous that the MVNOs are this far behind. 3G is likely to disappear and dropping back to legacy 2G to make voice calls is nuts in 2025.

U.K. was same last visit, Ofcom as hopeless as Comreg, the 3G shut down did force most MNO to facilitate it for MVNO’s but even Vodafone own VOXI dragged their heels.

Correctly it’s applauding, there are still more MVNO’s in U.K. last I knew that outnumber the few MVNOs in Ire, and that’s 2 years of progress.

Relatives o2 UK SIM card I was using lately is a MVNO and VoLTE is available but not VoWiFi which given o2 2G is still live made zero sense, would be better to have VoWiFi.

Ofcom/Comreg seems to think these are premium services only to be offered by MNO’s only ?? Senseless public funded employees whom no doubt don’t need to rely on cheaper providers based on their pay.

Australia have gone to the other extreme. They've closed 2G and 3G, and in addition they've IMEI-barred any phone that can't use VoLTE to call emergency services.

ah yes of course - no Data , just calls . so the 10eur SIM card I just bought then should be loaded with 3000 mins calls then? - I dont know why the sms text message told me I had insufficent credit then when I first inserted the card, I was not using any data or internet on the new eir sim card. I bet it was the SMS texts then , it must have been trying to automatically send a SMS text message to eir when I put it in but the SIM card does not include SMS text messages, only 3000mins of phone calls , which is daft. I think they could have added 20 free SMS along with 3000mins voice calls couldnt they have done. it wouldnt of hurt them.

I know, I’ve even read that non AU mobiles get barred from things with a Aussie sim, for terrorism you can understand that.

Remember when prepaid “must show ID and register at point of purchase” came in, passport

Glad I left before some Elon types took over TIO & ACMA, I found both to be useful as nothing and me training via complaints the legislation they are meant to enforce, seems a running joke with Gov/appointed organisations in many a ex England empire country.
