I didn't reference the figures from the 2000s because :

There was a referendum to tighten the rules around asylum claims which the people voted for.

There wasn't a housing crisis back then there was a recession with excess houses and massive reductions in all expenses of government spending.

Misinformation is stating immigrants are 15% of the population when the figure is closer to 25% if it doesn't matter why lie about. Why not be honest about it. I've explained this already to you.

You are perfectly entitled to you view that multiculturalism is great as you are perfectly entitled to your view that immigration should continue to increase exponentially until we have a hugely divided country. You can say I'm racist for saying that we need a proper immigration system where integration is priortized and for wanting to know how much of our taxes paid to the exchequer spent on IPAS, of whom the department of justice memo has said the minority of people coming here are genuine asylum seekers. There isn't a magic money tree that funds the exchequer.

The state cannot provide Special Education places for the children here they have thousands of teachers emigrating because they can't afford to live here, they are unwilling to provide support for the most vulnerable of children, early intervention for the most vulnerable children with autism and additional needs, I see it everyday how families are not provided with services and waiting lists have children who should be in school getting proper intervention but are at home with their parents, parents who have very little respite. It's bloody criminal that we cannot prioritise the people who voted the politicians in and their children the democratic mandate comes from us the Irish people, not from people from outside of the country. That's the social contract and democratic mandate we gave to our government its a quid pro quo, you pay your taxes and the government provide services with the money the taxpayer has paid.

So again il ask the question was that lady who was attacked on the luas right to say the irish government should look after their own people first or was she a far right racist bigot for saying that?

He said the same in relation to Fine Gael in 2020.

Jaysus Harris starring holes into Mary Lou when she is speaking. Is he trying to intimidate her?

The referendum was to reverse the nineteenth amendment to the constitution that came in as a result of the Good Friday agreement.

There wasn't a housing crisis, there was a surplus of housing, then they stopped building. Obviously the government should have kept the building going.

Iimmigrants are not 25% of the population. No idea where you get that figure, non Irish born does not equal not Irish.

And even if they were, so what?

I never said anything about my views on multiculturalism or otherwise.

So again il ask the question was that lady who was attacked on the luas right to say the irish government should look after their own people first or was she a far right racist bigot for saying that?

WIthout knowing the full context, I would say the Irish government should look after everyone that lives in our society, regardless of their background.

Mary Lou is winning by a country mile.

Why is Simon staring at her?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,991 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Harris just blamed Enda Kenny under the bus.

Mary Lou not answering any question asked so couldn't be winning by a country mile

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,228 ✭✭✭Caustic

Im not a FFG but id have to say Martin is coming across best, Mary lou and harris arent very good on the fly aout answering

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,346 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

She won the first 3 rounds for sure. The question about what she would cut first was a little silly and badly phrased.

    None of them answering directly.

MM is now being a school teacher

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Miriam & Sarah think they’re conducting interviews - not a debate. Seem to want the focus on themselves instead of the 3 party leaders

I was a fan of Harris but during this election the mask has really slipped. He’s really poor if it’s off script.

Also, he has actually achieved nothing, although tbf, MM is the same.

NCH and the Scoliosis scandals should be enough to see him banished.

The moderators are pretty poor. There is no need for the bickering tone.

I find it really hard to watch this debate, seeing FFG ganging up on Mary Lou McDonald in the middle.

    It's basically 2 parties on this debate….

It's not a great look men ganging up on a woman tbh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,346 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Yeah it will work for Mark Lou. It looks like bullying. Especially when Harris keeps staring at her.

In the last debate they put Mary Lou out on the edge and shouted over at her together.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Agree. Was last week’s debate some sort of qualifier for tonight?

Virgin Media 1 is far better viewing.

And Harris starring daggers at Mary Lou when she is talking. FF and FG are conning the public pretending to be 2 separate parties when they are now really 1 party. The only reason why they won't join together is that it gives them an advantage were they can go 2 on 1 in situations like this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,651 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I find it funny that FF or FG havent criticised each other.

    I wonder why that is…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,553 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

Its a hell of an achievement that Harris comes across as the most insincere party leader I can remember, even moreso when you consider he's immediately following Vradkar.

Why is Harris mumbling like a fool?

Can Martin not understand his coalition partners manifesto on health or what's happening?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Jaysus i nearly choked there when Martin said Stephen Donnelly was the best health minister

I'm watching this on RTE1+1. Micheál Martin being Micheál Martin, saying how great how Micheál Martin is.

Simon Harris reminds me of Stan Laurel with his physical reactions while Mary Lou is speaking. I've genuinely laughed out loud at him numerous times. Callan's Kicks won't be able to portray this on radio.

It's tough on Mary Lou being stuck between these two interrupting her while she's trying to deliver her answers from the hosts. I'm not she's great, it's just things I've noticed so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,301 ✭✭✭DenMan

Harris is a dreadful communicator it has to be said, he really is. It's easy to see why he's the TikTok Taoiseach. Even speaking slowly makes him sound even more condescending. Martin is in full teacher mode tonight, dismissive of others and full of all the answers to the general public's concerns. You'd think Fianna Fail was a brand new party appealing to the electorate. Putting Mary Lou in the middle of these two was intentional by RTE and hopefully, the electorate will see through this.

Its crazy on every issue the moderators are saying how they governemnt has failed and these two parties will probably walk back in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,255 ✭✭✭Danye

Paschal on VM1 is having a poor performance as well. Usually solid. He looks tired.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,651 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

This government always blaming every thing under the sun except owning up to it and taking the blame

God what a horrible horrible government

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,991 ✭✭✭Floppybits

That's the pressure Gerry Hutch has on him to retain his seat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,346 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

I have never seen Simon take the blame on anything ever.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,346 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Paschal and Michael O'Leary having dinner?

Paschal is a little rascal. Isn't the builder who built the bike shed the same guy that helped Paschal with his 2020 election and posters?

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?
