    Fair people pay tax.

Your selling it like PJ saved a decaying building now.

The pajama brigade out in force.

The problem with the "gift" is that it comes with annual running costs that outstrip the profits made. While taking on a loss making venture is not necessarily a bad thing for a council to do, my understanding is that these losses are too high for the council to take on.

To be fair to JP, he tried something different. It didn't work, but at least he tried it!

It's beautiful building in its own; but it really gives the finger to the rest of the street. That said , it would make a lovely museum or college / business school . In fact i'd be surprised if UL dont try to buy it.

UL are fucked. They just dropped plans for their new Clare campus.

TUS seem to be the current ambitious, moneybags university.

Given the location, turning this into a hotel with that rooftop viewing area as a bar/restaurant could be a good option.

The challenge there is that a lot of the building has no windows(besides the places that do have them but are double height floors) so you'd need to repurpose the entire facade of the building to allow for windows and even then you'd have a lot of internal rooms with no windows then unless you only did external rooms. With either options you're only looking at a boutique amount of rooms so in that case in order to have any reasonable return on the investment you'd have to charge an eye watering nightly rate to break even.
