Ireland is expensive in general but there are some things that I don't get people paying for when there are cheaper alternative. The biggest one would be Dominos Pizza. Not bad at all but there's no way I'd be forking out €15 for a medium sized pizza when I could get Apaches or even a frozen one that's not that bad.

Another is all the iPhones. I think it's mostly a fashion statement for some .

People upgrading their cars way too often…. and paying huge premiums to do so (eating up all the early stage depreciation).

(I guess PCP could be a big reason for regularly upgrading a car).

I bought a new car 4.5 years ago, a Tesla, and intend on keeping it for as long as it lasts really… but in the Tesla Ireland facebook group, I see loads people upgrading out of cars less than a year old, because the newer one has a slightly newer bit of tech or whatever in it….

1 member, has had 7 new Tesla's in the space of 2 years!!! (granted I believe it's a 2 car household, but still 7 cars in 2 years!!)

the argument against though, is will the place where you buy the 10 cans for €20 also provide you shelter, heating, somewhere comfortable to sit, and top level sports being shown on a TV while you are drinking your 10 cans?

exactly, and you got them for free with your 10 cans? or you paid for them yourself? (the same as the pub would have done).

And by the way I am not a regular pub drinker as I also believe they are very expensive for what they offer, but to compare the price of a pint in a pub to the price of a can of beer from Tesco is the same as comparing hiring a limousine to bring you to the airport vs getting a Dublin Bus to the airport…

music for big names is a rip off. Orchestras, theatre, comedy, dance can be amazing value though. I know they are heavily subsidised.
