Stand charge on water meters (Irish water)

From today the standing charge on water meters on farm's are going from €42/year to €82/year. That a fair jump and is very unfair on small fragmented farmers with multiple meters. I have 7 meters with low water usage so that means I will have to pay €574 before I start paying for water at all. Anyone else caught in this situation?

At least you can use the water, we have a metered connection & the pressure is so low that it won’t even fill a water tank we have to use the well all the time and still have to pay the standing charge bill.

Is there a usage allowance per meter then? Or a usage allowance per over all connection? Or no allowance at all?

Up to the 30/9/24 it was 1.87/m3. From today it is increasing to 2.24/m3.

Thats what privitisation does and with more to come now that uisce eireann is in charge and no back lash for local authorities ,co councillors or td,s to worry about .

That’s the charge per m3.

Is there a “free allowance” included? If there is it should be per meter installed if you are paying a standing charge per meter.

Ultimately you might feel it unfair but there are 7 meters that need maintenance and replacement in the future at some point vrs someone else that only has a single meter.

Have a meter on a field here would not use 1m3 in a year, being hit with standing charge each year. Maybe should get it disconnected and drop over the little bit that's needed. Not adjoining another field so cannot lay new pipe to it.
