That's the one type of weather I don't like, freezing fog. At least here in Meath there's clear blue skies and sunshine 🌞. Another hardy frost tonight!

Could be an ice day somewhere today. Still -1.6 here in Offaly and we're heading toward lunchtime. The mist and fog have prevented anything other than a very watery sun poking through earlier but even that's gone now.

Frost has hung around all day where I am in south Dublin. A glorious cold, sunny Autumn day. (Feels like winter though). Great walking weather!

Reached a max afternoon temp of -0.4 earlier. And overall since midnight, when the max was -0.2, if we remain sub zero until midnight it will be a rare ice day, even in this midlands spot. Down to -1.1 now, so unless the milder weather makes quicker inroads before midnight, there's a decent chance it'll stay sub zero comfortably. Very foggy though.

Got down to -4ºc here in carrick last night, freezing fog laced everything in ice, it was so hard it looked like it snowed

First proper winter style day here in Meath of the season, frost stuck around all day in sheltered spots and very slippery conditions on side routes. Freezing hard again, temperatures barely got above freezing today and close to -4 last night, much colder than anything we had last week.

Raphoe max -0.7c at 13.30 today.

Big transformation in soil temperatures. Before last weeks cold spell they were roughly 3.5 to 5c above normal. Now they’re close to average/1 to 2c below normal.

Looking further afield. Temperatures well below average to our North so any northerly incursions would hopefully be noticeably. Sadly still very mild to the east for the time of year

Gem has a brief northerly next week, -10 uppers over northern/eastern areas and -8c for most of the country so that reflects the image above. I think gem is known for underplaying the strength of cold 850hPa for our part of the world as well or I’m just repeating nonsense I read elsewhere. Here’s next Tuesday anyway

The canal at North Wall in D1 along the new greenway was frozen over just now, or at least had a layer of ice over it

No issues in the mountains today with frost or ice, driving was very smooth and then hiking was mostly fine to Tonelagee. The stunning weather again was uplifting for the mood. Very calm. About as perfect a late November day as you can get.

I will wait 'til 9am before declaring it an ice day at spots like Gurteen.

Really loved the weather today in Dublin. Crisp, chilly air, frosty ground, no wind or rain, clear skies and direct sunshine. Really brightened my day.

Quite a jump in temperature at Shannon, from -1°c at 11:30pm to +2°c at midnight.

    Warming in galway city also.

Low max of -1.1c at Gurteen yesterday. Impressive.

Although will not officially be recorded as an 'ice day' as needs to be sub-zero 0900 to 0900. Gurteen currently 5c.

All the frost long gone here in Meath, it was very frosty till about 6am and the mild melted through it by 7am.

Foul day in Cork, one of those days with no redeeming features.

today was certainly milder than yesterday but sure didn't feel it, a damp wet cool day bringing shivers that I didn't get in the 2C and frosty sunshine of yesterday. Nothing worse than dark, cool and damp combined with wind.

The past 2 days have been dreary to say the least. It's so dark, all the lights on in the house since I got up this morning. The only thing is at least the relatively the dry November will shorten the winter a bit.

Absolutely lashing in south Wicklow. Roads starting to flood.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Kutebride

Very windy, dark and drizzle in Malahide at 9am this morning.

Not much better in Meath this afternoon. Precipitation clearing now. Dull.

Very poor few days in Cork, that dank grey mild weather. Tomorrow and Monday should be an improvement.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?
