Believe that's Belmullet's sunniest September day on record. Previous record was 12.6 hrs in 1959 and 2015.

26.1c in Finner a high for starters and by far the highest of 2024 there. Did Markree Newport or Mount Dillon beat it though.

Strange that a NNE wind brought 26.1c to the NW.

Claremorris 25.2 yesterday, and Malin Head 12.1 hrs of sunshine.

    That's 3/6 sun days.

On 7 Sep, 11.3 hrs at Malin head (Valentia 9.9 and Dublin 7.3). … 4/7 days now.

    After first week,

    IMT _ 14.6 (0.4 above normal)

    MAX _ 25.2

    MIN _ not tracked yet

    PRC _ 52% of normal

SUN _ 78% of normal (Cork was only 36%)

    BONUS (sunny days)_ 4/7

… 25.2 is likely to be max now, if so, WolfeEire and DOCARCH will score 20 and Skinner 19 (25.1) … only 3 forecasters are still looking for a warmer result.

Interesting that we're on 4/7 sunny days, but only 78% of normal sunshine.

So 5/9 now but keep in mind, it gets a bit more difficult as available daylight hours will be below 12h soon and there's a seasonal increase in cloudiness by later in the month.

Today will be 7/12 surely as even Sligo is sunny and a frosty night to come. Will be touch and go tomorrow though.

Low of 0.7c at Mount Dillon yesterday.

That will be eclipsed today as sub-zero at Mount Dillon this morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,620 ✭✭✭pauldry

Ya think -0.7c according to wow this morning but they are sometimes a bit off.

    Mount Dillon -0.8c yesterday.

Might be a while now before that is challanged/beaten.

Also 13 Sep failed to join "sunny days" — despite Johnstown Castle at 5.7 hrs well out ahead of rest. (now at 7/13, looks like 14 Sep also failed, will note actual result later when I post week two report) …

Valentia at 11.3 and JC 11.1 yesterday, as noted above, count is 10/17 and probably 11/18 after today.

Gets cloudier on Saturday so 2 more days (maybe Saturday too) and unsettled with shortening evenings next week. So 15 to 17 could be our lot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,233 ✭✭✭✭M.T. Cranium

Just to confirm, all locations qualified yesterday, Belmullet at 11.8 was tops, so 11/18 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,233 ✭✭✭✭M.T. Cranium

Once again, all locations qualified yesterday, Belmullet at 11.6 was tops, so 12/19. Also two locations at 24.2, 24.1 C (not new extremes).

Min could be troubled yet. The end of the week looks quite cold with an arctic airflow.
