    I really don't get this…

OP, if you're distracted by notifications when driving just put the phone into silent/Do Not Disturb or a driving mode (as above) when getting into the car. Bluetooth/data will still work for your radio app/Spotify etc and if calls come in (assuming you have it paired to your car's Bluetooth system) they'll still come up on the displays.

Personally - as someone who does a lot of driving and in-car calls - I regularly get calls or notifications from Teams etc. Doesn't bother me. I answer the calls and ignore the texts. The team are told to call me if it's urgent, or I'll get back to them otherwise.

I'd be a bit more concerned at your apparent difficulty in prioritising or multitasking when behind the wheel though - 2 essential skills I'd have thought.

As for the need for repeated dinging at home because you might have missed a notification - I'm at a loss! Just check your phone (it'll be either a lock screen icon, toast pop-up or maybe even a flashing LED). You've created a solution for a problem that doesn't exist!

I have decided to use the DND mode when crossing into occupied territory.

Once 3/4G data and Bluetooth work, I'm happy.
