I'll be out of Ireland for work for a few months later in the year when my cert is up for renewal. Renewal forms are normally sent out 3 months prior to renewal, but does anybody know if it is possible to request the renewal forms are sent earlier?

The FCR are sent automatically, I assume, so your only option is to speak to your FO.

S/He will tell you how best to proceed and if the renewal can be done earlier.

Another option is to store the firearm until you return then renew and get it back.

Storage not a bad idea thanks, any recommendations, ideally not too far from Wicklow?

Here is a list of RFDs. Your options, close to you, are not great but have a look and see if one suits then give them a call.

I still think a call to your FO is a better starting point. See if you cannot get this done early.

Just as an addendum to the storage option, shop around a few rfds since storage fees differ drastically in a small area.

I've encountered from 10 euro a month to 50, in a very small geographical area.
