Only 9 points seperate 4th place from 15th place.

Equally it wouldn't be surprising if Munster win 5 out 6. I can't see them missing the top 8 and top 4 is still possible.

Probably 3 of Edinburgh, Stormers, Lions, Scarlets and Ulster will be the last qualifiers because the rest have to go to South Africa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 623 ✭✭✭bingobango12

Yeah agreed, think Munster win 4/6 and will be fine for top 8. Hopefully it stays this competitive and a couple spots are still open on final round of fixtures weekend.

Munster could still nab 4th. But they need to win (preferably with TBP) away to Glasgow and Connacht immediately after the 6n. NEITHER of those games will be easy.

Sharks lose at home to the Lions next weekend and it makes that last home QF there for any one of about 6 teams. Given the make up of their squad the Sharks should be doing a whole lot better.

    Only 7pts seperates 4th from 14th

there’s also a lot of ref reviewing baked into online punditry, something that was rarely part of post game analysis until recently. And it’s often framed as “I hate to criticise refs but” yet it’s now a built in component of analysis. We should start referring to many of these (often ex players) as ‘rugby influencers’.

    Incredibly tight table.

Connacht have pulled ourselves up to eight but a lot of the other fixtures this weekend saw our rivals gaining points against the odds.

If the Lions and Stormers find some consistent form they have the easiest run ins and will leave everyone else fighting over eighth position.

Lions do my head in, seems obvious the way they need to play to win is a fast game against the bigger SA teams, but sometimes they get stuck trying to match the others but with inferior players they are doomed to fail.

Sharks vs Lions tomorrow, then all teams will be on 12 games played.

If Sharks win, no change in standings. If Lions win, they jump to 6th.

Kick off 12 noon, TG4 and Prem 1 for TV coverage. That game is the last Round 1 fixture!

Sharks open the scoring with a Grant Williams try. Conversion missed. 5-0 after 6 mins

Lions score & convert. 5-7 now. Good game this.

Top 4 probably locked in now, next 4 could see some change.

The gap between 5 and 4 is the same as between 5 and 14….

Zebre a win away from the playoffs is a sentence I never thought I'd be saying this far into the season, fantastic bounce from a mixture of their coach and threat of being axed.

Is that move now off? Thought I read so somewhere but can't find info on it

Taine basham signs for Cardiff from dragons from next season

The league table is very tight but I think the unbalanced shields and the timing of away trips to South Africa give if an artificial spin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,725 ✭✭✭50HX

    Good club player Basham

I see they've signed the Welsh u20 captain to replace him

Back for Round 13. No football, so we should have got all games, but the powers that be decided to schedule three games at 3pm. Also RTE have three fixtures while TG4 who are occupied with the last day of the GAA leagues have none.

    Friday 7:35pm

    Glasgow v Munster RTE2 Prem 1

Cardiff v Lions BBC Two Wales Prem 2

    Saturday (3pm unless stated)

    12:45 Sharks v Zebre Prem 1

    Treviso v Edinburgh Prem 2

    Bulls v Leinster RTE2 Prem 1

    Scarlets v Stormers S4C (Delay, Prem 1, 4am)

    5:15pm Dragons v Ulster Prem 2

    5:15pm Ospreys v Connacht RTE2 S4C Prem 1

Bulls vs Leinster the pick of the bunch. Playing at Loftus. Suppose Leinster arent sending a full strength team straight after 6 nations, as previous times when they tour SA and are leading the table by that much?

  • Subscribers Posts: 43,179 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

It will be very much the second string team.

Look at Leinster's last two line ups to give you an idea of what it will be against Bulls

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,302 ✭✭✭PMC83

Read on Leinster fans that Barrett, Slimani and RG have all traveled. Hopefully we put out a decent enough side

  • Subscribers Posts: 43,179 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

The side will be decent, it just won't have the Irish test internationals in it. I think Boyle and G McCarty have flown as well.

Zebre close to getting a try bonus point against Sharks.

They've really turned things around since the news broke they could be sold

Zebre winning 28-31 after 50 minutes.

Sharks will still win as they find it incredibly easy to score if they can string more than 3 phases together. The standard of their play is abysmal and they've handed at least two trys to Zebre through terrible handling and offloading.
