I mean it doesn't and that's not what you linked it to prove. Otherwise you'd have said "well Trump didn't actually say the word genocide but he was essentially saying it with video/photos and general rhetoric".

Instead you argued that kermit was wrong to state Trump never used the word genocide.

You linked an article that you thought proved he actually did use the word "genocide". But the article although stating it does not back it up with the clip. You did not watch the clip in the article you linked.

So the article is either deliberately misleading or he said it but they didn't include it in the clip they chose.

Either way you have not proved your argument as you claim to have.

Trump baselessly claimed white farmers are being “executed” in South Africa after having their land taken away. Ramaphosa replied: “They’re not.”

Generally, during a genocide, people are executed.

We have many people that feel they’re being persecuted, and they’re coming to the United States. So we take from many ... locations, if we feel there’s persecution or genocide going on.

Generally, they’re white farmers and they’re fleeing South Africa, and .... it’s a very sad thing to see. But I hope we can have an explanation of that, because I know you don’t want that.

    Happy now?

I have. I'm not interested in semantics. Trump knew that that film would be played. It amounts to the same thing.

Is that from the oval office today? It's still not saying what you want it to say though.

It's ironic that there seems to be an almost Mandella effect taking place with posters on this topic.

If someone can link a quote or clip where Trump said "there's genocide being committed in SA" then the frog is wrong.

Otherwise his argument is valid and posters need to say " in their opinion its being implied by Trump"

I suppose the fact he has no respect for the office of POTUS, why would we expect him to have any respect for any other elected President . Non elected now is another thing, they seem to get RESPECT!

Trump, the guy who talked about moving Gazans out to make way for a Trump resort lecturing anyone about genocide…..

You are the one engaging in semantics. Trump didn't say what you said he did. Now you're claiming "this is what he meant".

I haven't used any semantics, just stated the fact he didn't say that.

    I accept your humble apology.

Your original response to kermit was quite literally arguing semantics. He had spelled out his position multiple times to Frank.

That position was that trump never used the word genocide.

You linked an article and said "he did, took 5 seconds to prove" or something to that effect. But the article did not prove it.

So in reality you're just not interested in semantics when you're wrong.

Trump just exploded and threatened to investigate NBC after their journalist Peter Alexander asked him about the $400M Qatari jet.

"You're a terrible reporter. Number one, you don't have what it takes to be a reporter. You're not smart enough. Go back; you have to go back to your studio at NBC because Brian Roberts and the people that run that place, they ought to be investigated. They are so terrible... You're a disgrace. No more questions from you."

I've never seen such a sensitive little ***** in all my life. A petty bully who can't answer a straight question without resorting to insults.

Each reporter should follow up on the last.

    Don't roll over.

    Persist.

Make him squirm and expose his corruption for all to see.

Nothing is surprising anymore, but the use of the Oval Office to ambush dignitaries will never fail to shock and sadden me

Why doesn't he call out Israel for committing genocide?

Politicians are not used to that sort of plain talking so react like a spoilt brat when a journalist asks a straight question.

Because he supports it. Remember the AI drivel he posted with him and Netanyahu on the beach and the bearded women?

Its the fault of idiots who think the very basis of all serving personnel is that they have to be fit on all fronts, like some cinematic super soldier, and ignore the fact that the military is, like the pool it is drawn from, made up of all sorts. Its the refusal to accept that some march with their left feet and arms moving in unison and their right feet and arms also yet can also be useful in the forces. Not all units need fulfil the requirements of combat or front-line units.

Looking at some of the MAGA heads and its ancillary support units, like militia or similar groups, proves the rule rather the exception that the human pool is huge and varied and they don't hold it against their recruits.

Yes, this is from the Oval Office today. Trump is doing what he always does, implying certain things without overtly saying them. So in the case, he lumps "genocide" in with "persecution". See how it works?

Ah the classic Trump supporter response, deflect deflect deflect.

Ramaphosa handled Trumps attempted bullying really well.

Trump really is scum. A complete bully.

His support is falling domestically. People are waking up.

Saw the news-clip on CNN and there appeared to be a model of a Boeing aircraft on the table between Trump and President Ramaphosa. I'm left wondering if the image was altered to insert the model after Trump blew up or if it was there tending to lead to the reporters question.

Another Trump Oval Office ambush into the bargain which didn't work out as some-one put the guest in the wrong chair. Cool way he responded by posing questions to Trump.

Edit: breaking on CNN, USAF has stated it has officially accepted the Qatari offer of the Boeing aircraft gift.

At this stage everyone expects an ambush, but South Africa was already going against the US during Biden's term with their genocide case against Israel.

If anything being attacked by Trump is now seen as a validation of any stance.

Why should he have respect for someone like Ramphosa considering he's the President of the ANC a political party where Kill The Boer is being sung at their rallies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,039 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Why would Ramaphosa have any respect for Trump when there are Nazi salutes at his rallies?

Trump acted like an undignified, pathetic bully - to the press and his counterpart. The same way he acted with Zelensky.

For what it is worth, RTE has just run a clip of the meeting where Trump is leafing through the sheets of paper next to Ramaphosa and is recorded saying that "we are accepting people [making a direct spoken reference to the White South African refugees] because of genocide". Trump did use the word GENOCIDE during the conversation he had with Ramaphosa about White South Africans being killed in front of the media and their recording devices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 296 ✭✭pad406

Well, his supporters chant things like hang Mike Pence and that's ok apparently.

And, just to point out the flaws in what you are saying:

South Africa's radical opposition politician Julius Malema's trademark song is "Shoot the Boer (Afrikaner), Shoot the farmer", which he sings at political rallies.

Such a clip was included in the video shown by Trump to the South Africans and Americans gathered in the Oval Office this afternoon.

Afrikaner lobby groups have tried to get the song banned, saying it was highly inflammatory and amounted to hate speech.

They have been backed by tech billionaire Elon Musk, who accuses Malema's party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), of "actively promoting" a genocide.

However, South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal has ruled that Malema is within his rights to sing the lyrics, first popularised during the anti-apartheid struggle, at political rallies.

The court ruled that a "reasonably well-informed person" would understand that when "protest songs are sung, even by politicians, the words are not meant to be understood literally, nor is the gesture of shooting to be understood as a call to arms or violence".

Instead, the song was a "provocative way" of advancing the EFF's political agenda - which was to end "land and economic injustice".

South Africa's highest court refused to hear an appeal against the ruling, saying it had little chance of succeeding.

President Ramaphosa's party says it no longer sings the song as the anti-apartheid struggle is over, but it cannot "prescribe" to other parties.

    From the BBC.

    I will give your effort…3/10.

He said that Brexit would be amazing for the UK and that Ireland would be left behind so the best option would be for Dublin to submit to vassalage.

    I remain sceptical.
