I’ve on question for ye all- why is Trump continually mentioning WW3?

    What’s his angle?

    Incredibly obtuse

Trump in his infinite stupidity has just destroyed world confidence in American military hardware, this is going to cost them dearly over the next couple of decades.

Now his oldest trick, distraction: I can tell no lie, I'm the President of the MAGA US, I told you it was going to happen, it's the other presidents fault.

It's not unlikely to stop a challenge, it is absolutely guaranteed to stop one within about 5 seconds. You are suggesting a constitutional challenge to The Constitution. It makes absolutely no sense on any level.

There have been times when I doubted whether Trump was telling the truth such as when he said that Mexico was going to pay for building the Wall or when he said that he would stop the Russia-Ukraine war on day 1. Trump has explained this by saying he was being 'sarcastic'. I believe him. Obviously, he is also being sarcastic when he says he is going to 'Make America Great Again'

It's along the same lines as his "all hell will break loose" and "there's going to be a response like you wouldn't believe". He's hoping it makes other countries think "oh no, we're on the brink of WW3, we better just take whatever offer is on the table so it won't actually start".

It's political manoeuvring at the "playground in secondary school level", just think of Trump as the spoiled rich kid who isn't the real bully but who does the bidding of that bully and tries to manipulate the other kids into going along with whatever sinister sh*te that guy is up to.

He's so bad at this, it's his strongest advantage, most other political players know how to play the diplomacy game to a level miles ahead of Trump's capabilities but they don't know yet how to deal with someone so out of their league as he is. And that has given him some sort of an advantage and may continue to do in the short term as its easy for his media mouthpieces to portray his as insightful, strong and decisive when really he is ill informed, brash and easy to sway. Look at his tariffs strategy for example.

Ever wonder how Trump is able to post so much bullshìt on a daily basis?

Is it just me or do all women hired by Trump for his administration look "samey"?

Making yourself enemy number one of the industrial military complex is not a smart move. He is going to cost powerful people many billions.

If trump gets his way America will no longer be a superpower he supports Putin Doge is taking apart the federal government agencys There will be cuts to social security and medicare even though trump said he would not do this.Social security offices will be we closed and staff reduced .this is being done under the pretence of reducing fraud .Millions of Americans rely on 401k pensions funds to pay pensions as retirement .The stock market has lost trillions since trump was elected .America is heading for recession . Tesla sales are falling Tesla dealerships have been attacked .Elon will be under a lot of pressure if Tesla stock falls under a certain level. This tariff trade war is bad for American consumers it simply increase the cost of goods in shops .

The quality of life in America is falling and the federal agencys are needed more than ever as climate change causes more serious fires . 1000s of homes in California have been destroyed . If you are not rich it's not a good time to be living in usa

Apart from the other likely reasons mentioned here, I fully believe that Donny`s angle is singularly childish. He wants his Nobel Peace Prize. And how does he think he`ll get one?; By play-acting that he is saving the world from WWIII.

That is what I think an awful lot of his performance with Zelenski a few weeks ago was about. Sure, there may have been some pro-Russia slant, but the primary objective is always pro-Donnie and Donnie wants a big gold medal with Old Alfred`s face on it.

«Why does he want this medal so bad?» You might be asking. Because Obama got one. In fairness, I felt that Obama getting one was just plain silly, he had only just gotten elected and hadn`t actually done anything in service to peace yet. The head of the Nobel Peace Committee had a bit of a notorious habit at the time of nominating famous people he wanted to meet. Thus you got Obama getting one.

However, Norway and the Norwegian people are no fans of Trump or Nazism in general (from first-hand experience), so I really doubt that Donnie will be getting an invite to Oslo to pick up a medal, which I know will just drive him up the wall.

    https://us.cnn.com/2025/03/21/politics/trump-signature-alien-enemies-act-proclamation/index.html

President Donald Trump on Friday downplayed his involvement in invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport Venezuelan migrants, saying for the first time that he hadn’t signed the proclamation, even as he stood by his administration’s move.

“I don’t know when it was signed, because I didn’t sign it,” Trump told reporters before leaving the White House on Friday evening.

The proclamation invoking the Alien Enemies Act appears in the Federal Register with Trump’s signature at the bottom.

Is he a bit worried the judge is going to come down on him hard? Or is he not happy with the negative media reaction?

Looks like he is trying to pin it on Li'l Marco!

I’m not convinced it’s just the medal he’s after but I do think he has an eye on that prize.
Theres an advantage I guess of claiming the worst will happen and when it doesn’t, claim that he prevented the worst from happening- maybe it’s that simple.
But playing negotiation and political games using WW3 as a threat is a dangerous tactic - I think world leaders need to call out this bluff behaviour for what it is and just kill it before it really takes off - the only person speaking of the threat of WW3 is Trump right now - stirring the fear of his own people so that they’ll become insular and will be wary of any foreign power- Europe included. The Democrats aren’t immune from coming under his spell either- he’s already won over a significant % of the ethnic vote who were fairly vocal in their support of closing the borders of America in the last election.
Finally I think whatever expenditure he’ll announce over the coming months will likely involve a hell of a lot of money towards weapons and satellites and military technology - again on the basis of preventing WW3.

Just like his campaign speeches - I’m listening for the repeated phrases - the repetition - this gives away his agenda and indicates the direction he’s heading.

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

If we were living in a world with consistent logical rules, him claiming that he couldn't remember signing that document should make every single one of his executive orders void for the same reason he voided Bidens pardons

Now for the excuse; that's not my signature, the only explanation is that some-one must have auto-signed it. Biden…. Its unfortunate for Trump that when he signs HIS EO's & Proclamations, he has an audience of witnesses to confirm it on film and photograph.

SSo According to the Trump administration Ireland is operating a Tax Scam. Scamming another person is regarded as a very low act. Revenue are among the government agencies warning us to look out for Scam artists. Now our own government are accused by the United States of being scammers. Not good.

Accused of operating a tax scam, by a guy convicted for fraud, and who avoids paying tax, and says that not paying it makes him smart…

IIt Was the US secretary of commerce who claimed that we are operating a tax scam.

I saw that and thought wtf but after reading more about it,

while I am not admirer of this guy, is this not an extract from his press briefing about the NGAD contract that was awarded to Boeing.
he was saying they might even export it, maybe a toned down version.

This aircraft is the replacement for the F-22 which they didn’t export at all because of the technology in it, not even a “toned down version” was exported.

I’m sure there would have been plenty of customers at the time for a “ toned down” version of the F-22.

Anyway going by past fighter developments I think his timeline projection for getting the fighter into service before his term ends is a bit fanciful pretty much like the rest of the stuff he says.

Canadian foreign minister Mélanie Joly speaking diplomatically on CNN

"Americans and Canadians are best friends, are best neighbours, best allies. We never started this trade war". "the rhetoric coming out of the White House is — how can I say — absurd," and added that Canada was beginning to turn to other allies in Europe and the United Kingdom for trade and defence. cbc.ca

And do you not think he speaks without Trump's hand up his ass?

The US Secretary of Commerce, like everyone who works in that administration, must toe the line of the man in charge who demands performative loyalty. Ergo, much like the rest of them, no matter his background or competence, he is completely full of **** and has demeaned and debased himself.

It doesn't mean it is not a concern for Ireland in terms of ramifications. But it has no grounding in reality.

Strange that 2nd of April is chosen as Trump's big day for starting a global trade war.

I suppose 1st of April would have been too on the nose, and invited a few too many bad jokes at his expense.

Is this phrase "rule of law breaking down" another way of saying CIVIL WAR in the US imminent? Surprised at UK on the list as they are after a special trade deal with US?

The United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark and Finland have issued advisories warning about travel to the United States, where the rule of law is breaking down. Canada has informally asked its citizens to "reconsider" U.S. travel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,838 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

That seems to be that guy's interpretation of the advisories. Most of what I see about them elsewhere refers to immigration restrictions…
