Don't forget, that's because he's trolling us all. Not at all because he is a desperately unwell man-child.

Tiger pulled out of the tournament next weekend after the death of his mother saying that "he wasn't ready for it" yet he goes and plays with that arsehole.

I disagree with your final conclusion. I see your point in that institutions are organisations and organisations are just bodies of people but this is the sort of thing that could trigger serious civil unrest. The Democrats' main problem is that they're crap favourites as we just saw.

This is the sort of thing that would trigger a civil war, honestly. I know that that sounds a bit hysterical but the best comparison I can think of is the outbreak of riots and unrest that resulted from the murder of George Floyd in 2020. It even reached the UK where a statue of renowned slave trader Edward Colston was tossed in the Avon.

It's a flawed comparison, I know but I just don't see blue states just sitting down and accepting rule by a tyrant, particularly one as uniquely pathetic and weak as Donald Trump. The one consistent thing about tyrants is that they always overreach and this causes their downfall.

As for who stops him, it won't be specific organisations or institutions. Those have largely been captured or have had their heads removed and replaced with compliant MAGA plants.

We're also forgetting about the last Trump presidency which was characterised mainly be factionalism and chaos. The man is not an organiser or a leader of men. He's a plutocrat masquerading as a liberator. Even if he does take a third term, the blue states will just ignore him as he'll be illegitimate. If there isn't unrest, there'll be nothing but jammed up court cases and the whole country will just look like more of a clown show than it is now.

    That's my point though.

This doesn't end with Trump et al accepting the will of the courts or being "forced" to by the machinery of State (DOJ, FBI etc.)

This ends with the dissolution of the United States as we currently know it - Multiple States effectively seceding and the balkanization of the USA.

There is a limited window to nip this in the bud and if they don't take this chance the USA as we know it is done for.

The US president can only serve TWO four year terms.I don't find that hard to understand.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,750 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

None of us find it hard to understand at all, but Trump genuinely seems to disagree.

Just like he doesn't understand how Tariffs work or how Trade Surplus/Deficits work.

He's an intensely stupid and self involved man and his first last and ONLY thought is "How can I make myself feel AWESOME!!"

So if he thinks that the caravan of cretins that he has installed throughout the Government will let him stay on as God-King he will absolutely try.

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice

Run as VP in 2028, be installed as President when the elected guy stands aside for "health reasons". Rinse and repeat as long as he remains alive.

In that situation, he'd be still ineligible and the presidency would pass to the speaker of the house.

Company's who use dei to recruit make more money than company's that just recruit white people this was found in a survey by a business magazine .yes hire qualified people but don't just hire from certain areas or only hire white people .it turns out having a diverse multiracial workforce means you can address a wider range of customers and have a wider range of ideas to provide goods or services .

One example SNL us tv show is much better since they now hire black and Asian comedians rather than all white cast with just one black comedian in the 80s

This is mentioned in the this week in tech podcast this week's edition how dei is good for shareholders . Much of what doge doing is illegal but someone has to take them to court to stop them

The intend to sack or let go all federal managers and replace them with unqualified trump cronys

Federal agencys will be shut down or they won't enforce health safety and pro consumer regulations like business regulation that protect the environment or stop scammers from ripping off people

    Thats harsh.

Tiger played with Trump as it was a private game in Florida near where he lives.

The PGA tour is involving Trump to get an investment deal done with Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, which backs LIV Golf so it was business for Tiger.

Big difference between a private round and flying across the country to play 4 rounds with all his ailments and do multiple press conferences.

An EO to make the VP also the speaker:-)

I'm just joking, but it wouldn't surprise me.

When you divide the overall pool and must hire a certain amount from each pool there's a high probability you won't recruit the best people for the job. It's simple maths really.

As a country, the US would probably be the most likely out of any in the western world to lapse into civil war. There are around 400m guns in the country. If things ever turned really ugly and civil unrest were to break out between two different factions, goodness knows what the outcome would be.

The speaker of the house doesn't actually have to be a member of the house or specifically there's no constitutional requirement for them to be. But going that route in 2028 they win the house and presidency and decide to elect Trump speaker and both the president and VP stepdown, Trump, being the speaker would be next in line, but still ineligible as he served 2 terms, so it passes to the head of the Senate.

He'll have to find another way!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,034 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

    So no example then.

That aside, thats one of the most ridiculous things I've read on here.

Theres literally more chance you'll find the best person when you consider applicants from all pools.

Unless you think one particular pool is made up of more capable people as a matter of fact.… do you think that?

The Constitution is no longer revered by his supporters, he is.

Trump and his cronies have already violated the Constitution multiple times, and are now setting up to defy court orders telling them to stop with the fairly blatant and worrying rationale of "how will they stop us".

America is not Russia, but it is very quickly going that way and no one in Congress, at least on the republican side, seems to care.

just watched Vance’s speech to our dear EU leaders, to be fair he spoke well and made a lot of sense, if he keeps it up he’s in with a good shout.

That has to be a spoof, but the URL looks ok? Is that a typo

As of 02/11/2025 text has not been received for H.R.1161

It appears to be genuine, I realise that just introducing a bill does not make it so, but that is just stupid.

It needs a western world response- and not just governments- people.
Next time you’re talking to someone working in America, ask them how the fck they elected such a dictator and what are they actively going to do about it- the American people have to take responsibility for this - those that elected him and those that didn’t succeed in preventing his election.

Let’s treat the American people with the contempt they deserve until they wake up

We are in Waterford Whisperer territory with the name of that bill.

There was a guest on Bill Mather’s show, and in relation to Canada he said it should be a territory, and that everything should be on that table. It is a great way of uniting Canada as a whole, I can tell you that.

It is a total clown show in America right now.

    Channel 4 News.

A Democrat senator pretty much ran away from a reporter when asked what might “hell breaks loose” mean in terms of Gaza.

She ran away stating you best ask Trump that question.

I mean FFS- is that the best a democrat senator can do in the US right now?
How about saying he’s a war criminal now and the sooner he’s incarcerated the better.

But no- “ask Trump”- this is the Lilly livered opposition America has to Trump - they’re fcked.

Saying now he’ll take Gaza without “buying it” and no Palestinian wants to leave there. He really is an evil POS. Israel first not America first.

If it's any consolation, they were fkd a long time before that. Some of them should have noticed the rising tide in American conservatism way before the dam broke with Trump, but either none of them did or else they welcomed it, believing that Trump/MAGA would destroy the Republican party and render it unelectable on the national stage.

The big problem for the Democrats is that they have the same old uneasy coalition of voters. So, someone running for POTUS on the Democratic ticket has to try and not píss off about 25 different voter blocks with every policy announcement, and as the saying goes, when you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no-one. Trump doesn't have this problem because his voting base is unified and ideologically pure (relatively speaking, at least), so he can say anything he wants. People call Trump dumb - I agree he's an extremely ignorant man in many ways, but he was smart enough to recognise how committed his voters were with the whole "I could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose any voters" remark, before many serious political pundits gave him a chance at winning the White House.

Good point about the “pleasing everyone” - that’s kind of why I alluded to slapping Americans with a wet fish across their face in one of my last posts - they need to decide what they can “settle” with in order to move forward and have a clear opposition - feels like America will be a one party state for many years to come
