SCOTUS did not use the word repatriate but to facilitate the return which is what gives DOJ deniability in the execution of returning him (and yes, I'm of the opinion that it was intentional by SCOTUS to cover to Trump).

If you are a young man and look a certain way live in the wrong place and have tattoo,s you are at risk of being arrested as a gang member even if you have never committed any crime Ice have quotas to arrest a certain no of men per week . Students are being arrested and deported because they criticize Israel on social media . Trump has crashed the stock market and us Treasury bond market and the housing market is showing signs of a slowdown . The dollar has dropped in value which is going to increase the cost of all goods imported to America

The stock market has lost about 10 per cent of it's value and most Americans depend on 401k stock investments in order to be able to retire after the age of 60 . I think a lot of people will lose their jobs in the next few months as the effects of tariffs start to effect small business

The housing market depends on consumer confidence which is not good at the moment .

Warren Buffet has sold off most of his American stocks months ago as he's could see trumps policy's would not be good for the economy

At* a recent US cabinet meeting where all the secetaries were asked to report ‘%ON PROGRESS ‘ and , surprise, surprise they ALL gave a very up beat/glowing one, Trump stated that his government/ cabinet is totally TRANSPARENT / the most transparent ever, etc, etc, etc.

    APART FROM

    (1) what transpired between himself and Putin in. Helsinki a few years ago

    (2) what transpires in all the contact between himself and Putin especially in relation to the war with Ukr

    (3) the details of his annual medical check up

    ((4) publishing his tax affairs

    (5) almost without exception all the reports given at the above cabinet meeting were totally bias, unbalanced , spun and with the proverbial ‘cherry ‘ on top of each one

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

A leaving cert economics student can see a recession is the predictable outcome of all of these decisions - so it’s clear to me that a recession is exactly what Trump wants - aside from himself and his cronies making a lot of money, I’m not sure for what benefit - this is obviously the “pain” that was promised to the electorate .

high interest rates and high costs and inflation - I’m not seeing the plus side anytime soon

Stock markets may be down 10% but on the other hand the dollar is also down 10%.

Tattoos. Not actual gang tattoos. Random tattoos found on the web. It smells like someone using AI to do their homework instead of due diligence. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly22xm8kx1o

AI is very biased because it's being fed garbage. So even if the AI merchants hadn't figured out they could use it to influence this administrations brain-farts the bias was built in.

Trump promised to end the Gaza war. Israel has recently doubled the size of buffer zones, This leaves Palestinians with less than a third of Gaza’s area to live in. (UN link) Before this Gaza had a population density similar to London inside the M25.

I wouldn't assume that Trump has the grasp of economic fundamentals that a Leaving Cert economics student possesses. Trump, remember, has been a big fan of tariffs for decades — long before he ever got into politics. Everything we know suggests that he has completely misunderstood them that whole time, and that his views are completely impervious to correction by anyone who knows what they are talking about.

He doesn't believe that tariffs will cause a recession because he has never believed that and, as he is a very stable genius, it is impossible that he could be wrong. It's as simple as that. If there is something that looks strikingly like a recession, it won't be because of the tariffs but becuause of other countries'/other peoples' (unfair, malicious, hostile, etc) reaction to them.

Just read the BBC article, I he would be foolish to follow through with a USA holiday in the circumstances, given the situation in the US at the moment.

Trump doesn't know what he wants as he doesn't have a clue how any of it works. He just sees the title "most powerful man in the world" and assumes everyone will just bend to his will. You take a narcissist and let them near a role with that title and the outcomes are predictable.

The only thing Trump plans for is how to get more attention and hopefully adulation. Hes like a junkie, he'll do anything for his fix.

Trump has found out that when you are dealing with the Chinese, you are doggy paddling in the deep end of the pool.

I am just waiting for a Trump parade to happen . I can see him wanting a parade to honour him with one arm salutes and fly bys . I actually think it will happen with red capped ****** hollerin and whoppin and then causing pure mayhem

The country is on a downward slope into very very dangerous times and the world can see history in the making live on TV

That man who was illegally deported to El Salvador, the lack of knowledge on where he is and his condition gives me the distinct impression he's most likely died. Which is **** awful.

I believe there is one in the works to celebrate 250 years of the US army.

The date just happenes to coincide with Trumps birthday.

The white house denied this 5 days ago https://www.politico.com/news/2025/04/07/white-house-denies-military-parade-trump-birthday-00277566 A week is a long time in politics, especially with all the u-turns and tangents.

    https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/761814/trump-parade-military-dc/

During his first term in 2018, Trump wanted a grandiose military parade on the streets of D.C.

But Trump angrily and reluctantly canceled his plans after military leaders said it would cost $92 million and after District officials complained that heavy military equipment—tanks and planes included—would tear up the roadways and cost $21 million just for parade public safety. …

Saturday, June 14—the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army and, as it happens, Trump’s 79th birthday

Every time I see reference to the Birthday Parade a little fantasy floats through my head…all that hardware, all those soldiers, conveniently in the middle of Washington and Trump just standing there looking pleased with himself, surrounded by all his minions and lackeys. They could make a clean sweep. Get them all at once. I can dream.

I'm heading over to the US myself tomorrow for work. I'll be very interested to see how customs are compared to all the other times I travelled. I might have to log out of boards.ie and delete recent browsing history 🤣

2 or 3 of the people travelling with me are amongst those that have a "certain look". I've already seen them treated differently when Trump wasn't president. I'll be very interested to see how it is tomorrow for them.

I’m meant to be heading there in December.

I don’t think it’s even worth the risk.

    Seems like a hostile place.

Republicans - look how old Biden is! He's old! Old people shouldn't be president!

Republicans - let's celebrate Trump's birthday, despite him being 2 years younger than Biden!

Elect a clown... Expect a circus

When it's pointed out the similarity in age, the spiel changes to something about fitness/frailty.

To be absolutely fair, the years have not been especially kind to Biden, but he's been through a lot with his kids and that'd take it out of anyone. However, the net result was that the American public saw a weak and frail-looking man at the 2024 debate with Trump. It was starker, still, when you compare him even to four years prior, never mind 2008 and 2012, which almost look like a different person entirely.

Whereas Trump still looks like Trump. Tubby, bellicose, with way too much bronzer and geometrically-implausible hair. He knows how important his image is to maintain, repugnant as it may be to those outside of MAGA.

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-04-13/trumps-tariffs-destroying-americas-exorbitant-privilege/105164676

These words were written 14 years ago:

"Serious economic and financial mismanagement by the United States is the one thing that could precipitate flight from the dollar.

"And serious mismanagement, recent events remind us, is not something that can be ruled out.

"We may yet suffer a dollar crash, but only if we bring it on ourselves. The Chinese are not going to do it to us."

Very interesting article on the effect of the dollar being the world's reserve currency has had, and what it means if it loses that status.

Trump is an example of how much alcohol must affect your health

For everything said about the food he eats, staying away from drink and cigarettes his whole life was a good choice you'd think

He's older than Bill Clinton! A man elected with grey hair over 30 years ago!

Wouldn’t bother going in the current climate

Hopefully he is actually OK, well alive at least, still in a sh*thole prison obviously.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Bukele will probably keep him alive but sequestered away at a secret location as a bargaining chip of sorts, which will indirectly help Trump as he can just say that I've asked for the guy to be returned but woops! they can't find him. 🤐

He's very reminiscent of the English Brexiteer cheerleaders. He's obsessed with trade in physical goods, but not in services - as if they somehow don't count. He has a 1950s / 1960s view of the global economy, rigid and inflexible…..in no way can he be described as a 'modern' president.

There’s lads I know in their forties with grey hair, what’s your point?

I think about a third of US long term bonds are held by non US institutions and it is assumed that it was Asian holders that have being offloading as most transactions in these bonds have been happening outside US trading hours this last week.

I don't think there's any recovery for the Trump admin tariffing penguins and the fact that a voting majority reelected this level of idiocy.

This is a pretty insightful view into the Trump persona by Bill Maher.

There is the public "lunatic" persona and the private one.

He said Trump was self deprecating, understanding and allowed Maher to speak his mind. He actually felt more comfortable speaking with Trump than Obama and Clinton.

Maher wonders why cant we get the guy he met to be the public guy, instead of the "Mr Trump" persona.

Its pretty funny too, Trump wasnt afraid to laugh at himself or ask for Maher's opinion on issues.

Maher brought a sheet with 60 insults Trump had called him in the past to the White House because he wanted Trump to sign it, and he did.😁

Was that just with Maher though and because he is a big TV celebrity? There have been numerous anecdotal reports of him being horrible to people in private too.
