And a big Thank You to our Penguin Friends for convincing Trump to pause tariffs.

Investors calling it as they see it - shur he will just capitulate on China too, as he always does.

Treasury yields are still increasing so he has done fundamental and lasting damage to the US economy.

Outrageous decisions from the White House.

Who was it this morning that posted that now was a good time to buy stocks?? Total manipulation going on.

However I'll take it, I bought some MicroStrategy yesterday to average down. Didn't think I'd get out as soon as today, but am happy to bank a little profit in these markets.

He said a pause on all countries who haven't retaliated, did the EU not just retaliate today ?

The times is saying it's only paused for countries that didn't retaliate against the tariffs.

The white house are now saying this was the plan all along 😂😂😂😂

Yip, MAGA exceptionalism was as a preexisting force that coalesced around and elevated Trump, he saw the mob, ran in front and shouted "follow me!", just as Boris Johnson did with Brexit.

I wonder if he'll shy away from large crowds now.

To put it simply - imagine if Barack Obama had done what Trump has done over the last week. Remember Fox News going mad when Obama wore a tan coloured suit? Some country.

What a climb down, it only further reinforces the lack of stability and trust which any company would require to make longterm plans to move production to the states. He massively overplayed his hand and is now stuck with voters who will be pissed due to their phones, clothes and other tat doubling and even potentially tripling in price.

This is crazy market manipulation that would see anyone else in serious hot water. I wonder how many of his mates have got rich off the back of this, if there hasn't been insider trading here I'd be amazed. Someone has made a packet.

Instead of licking his ass, China stuck their boot up his ass and he has **** himself as a result of it. Everyone else is getting tariff reprieves for nothing as a result, it seems to have suddenly dawned on him that he can't fight everyone at once.

So what he's doing is trying to turn this into an everyone vs China thing, and hope that nobody notices the climb down.

I hope China keeps the pressure on.

Western proverb: If you're going to a gunfight, don't take a Trump with you.

Every week there's been some madness, threatening to annex Greenland, proposing to genocide Gaza, threatening to pull out of NATO, voting against a UN vote stating Russia did invade Ukraine (not to mention the horrible ambush in the Oval office), threatening to tariff the world, etc…

What's next week, probably bring back slavery and school segregation.

It's crazy to start a trade war with China who own 760 billion of US government debt

Not fit for office. What will his next hairbrained decision be?

No, they're just waiting for what excuse Trump, Levitt and Fox News put out so they know what they're supposed to parrot.

"No, Trump didn't back down! He's pausing the tariffs because of 404 Page Not Found, which I'm pretty sure is some genius business code he's using!"

Peter Navarro: "This is one of the greatest days in American economic history."

The Trump administration officially in its “‘I’m not owned! I’m not owned!’ It shrieks as it slowly shrinks and transforms into a corn cob” phase.

Is the EU definitely included in the pause ?

Personally I don’t think it was the wrong move by Biden or Trump trying to contain China. The tariffs on everyone else though was dumb as f**k

Can anyone think of a similar level of humiliation experienced by a US president in history?

Lewensky. Watergate, Bay of Pigs. All bad, but very different to this show of complete incompetence!

The upshot of all this is that the likes of Japan and South Korea will know that they can not trust a US that likes electing buffoons, and so they'll know that being part of the RCEP as a trade bloc is an insurance for when the US does eventually go full Jack Ass.

It doesn't matter (the corruption). The 1st Trump admin. was extremely corrupt (by standards of a rich, supposedly well governed democracy), Americans saw that, decided it tasted good and wanted more so now this Trump admin. will have Banana Republic/tin pot African dictatorship levels of graft. Look at Musk f.e.g. set up as a kind of parachuted-in boss who is effectively hiring and firing and setting budgets in areas of government that regulate his companies and give him contracts.

    Contain?

If anything it's the US who's the untrustworthy one.

In other news, anti-Semitic posts could be enough to deny visas.

Now, we all know 'anti-Semitic' can often mean anything that criticises Israel in any way so I'm sure such accusations could be applied to a wide range of potential offenders. Michael D. Higgins perhaps?

Looks like the EU still have to pay 10% tariffs during this 90 days , it's 75 countries who are exempt

Generally big pharma spends more on marketing and advertising than on R&D.

Only two places allow prescription drugs to be advertised to the public. Everywhere else you can only advertise over the counter ones.

In case you were wondering the second one is of all places , New Zealand. No I don't get it either.

China ain't going to ship anything to the USA now.

Strange how the market flew up this morning at the starting bell without any announcements whatsoever.

Maybe I am wrong but surely people are suspecting there has got to be some fishy inside information being passed around there. Can anybody explain it any other way?
