Needs more Louis Meintjes and "Here's that corner I was telling you about….".

Plapp being out here probably sinks the chances for the break to be honest. Not that UAE or Pog are that bothered but they won't let it get too big a gap so encouraging other teams to chase it too.

Better weather so far for this Giro… Tuscany looking very scenic.

Some fantastic shots I must say. This looks like being a good finish yet again.

    beautiful stage.

I can’t understand why Ineos drilled it so hard at the end, there was nothing in it for them

not sure who said it recently but it was along the lines of “Ineos still act as if they’re Sky with peak Froome despite having no chance of winning a grand tour”

early season stuff was from a studio in Poland.

They’re in Chiswick for the Giro. Don’t know if that’s a grand tour thing or a change of policy

Lloyd even talked about the weather in Chiswick yesterday.

Have a look at Orla’s Instagram for the differences in behind the scenes footage. They have a “fleshed out” background in Chiswick

Of the 18 podium places in GTs over the past two years, Ineos have three of them, two with the rider who is currently in second place. They're no Jumbo or UAE and are a shadow of their former selves but they probably have more justifiable aspirations than several other of the GC teams. They do have a massive sense of entitlement though.

On The Cycling Podcast Thomas said it was to try and set up Narvaez for the stage as it had closed down enough.

Not sure I'd dismiss the tactics so far - the only way for Thomas to win is that way as he's not explosive enough, and given his history of hitting the deck, he definitely needs keeping out of trouble as much as possible!

Just wondering as I watch this TT. In terms of logistics what do teams do for cars following? Do they have 8 cars? Seems like overkill but if you have your 8 riders close together in GC then it would be hard to ensure a car for each without having 8. Maybe for certain riders they won't bother if they aren't specialists or not involved in the GC.

Lol at Ganna being allowed to draft behind the Astana car

Ganna might have it with that time, he caught 7 people, including his 9minute man!

    some performance alright.

Buuuuuuut I can’t imagine the men ahead of him were really trying.

Pog has a great TT in him of course but he’s not dominant against the clock. This course seems made for Roglic for example. Someone like Arensmen could win it if Pog doesn’t go 100%

Decent ride by Ryan Mullen. Ahead of the former world champ Tobias Foss for example

I'm hoping Pog doesn't win this, more importantly is the time gap to Thomas.

Big news…..Pog wearing the "maroon" shorts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 514 ✭✭✭MangleBadger

Pog has only won 2 time trials which are not National Championships. I think his PdBF performance makes people think he is much better, but that was a climbing performance more than a time trial performance.

    Nobody is beating Ganna.

Ya I wouldn't be a big fan of Sky but even I can admit that they are still a reasonably strong team and deserve some respect. As for tactics I think they are doing the right thing and if they can put more time between Thomas and 3rd or 4th then it's only a positive and if anything happens Podge then Thomas could have pink.

wind is kicking up enough that Ganna is probably safe

Curious to see how Hirt goes in this too. Easy to forget he was 6th in the 2022 Giro. Quietly staying in the running up to now.

looks like Ganna now. Pog in 10th at the first check
