Bbc comms whining about that. Its a clear push off the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

Poor ball protection by Italy there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I'm really not convinced by the argument that Gatland is building something with Wales. They're poor at just about everything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

    Some great handling there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Reynal has to give a yellow to Wales. Killed the ball close to the line when a try was on if the recycle was allowed to happen.

Our win v Italy is looking more impressive given how they're playing v the other teams

    Menoncello excellent again so far

    Lovely offloading there, nice try

Italy are capable of pulling some nice moves together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭Ben Bailey

    Italy are playing rugby

    Wales are not

Hopefully that doesn't come back to haunt them... :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

And of course he doesn't give a card after the try is scored.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭Shehal

And crucially Wales now have score 19 unanswered points to avoid the wooden spoon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

I think he's past it, and his rugby vision outdated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,719 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Whatever way this fixture works out, Quesada has been the most impactful Head Coach in their history.

He deserves massive credit for organising and disciplining some decent raw talent.

Really, Italy should be finishing today with 3 W's, and thats remarkable.

Italy look by far the better team. If they can keep this up and reduce the number of jackal opportunities they're giving Wales, they'll put up a few tries here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭Shehal

This is straight from the Eddie Jones play book on how to keep you're job despite the poor results.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Ireland beating Italy 36-0 looks a better result every game now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

Wales are desperately poor so far. Not at the pitch at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    Huge turnover from Lamaro.

I really don't get Garbisi though. Can do some wonderful things at times, but is liable for at least one massive every game.

    That's dreadful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭Ben Bailey

    Embarrassing stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

That's Wales tournament tournament in a nutshell.

Italy lofts an aimless kick into the 22, but Wales don't call who'll field it so two players collide into each other to knock it on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

Italy need to be further ahead

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,380 ✭✭✭fitz

Wales consistently "rolling away" from the ruck directly into the ball and getting away with it. Lamaro needs to have a word with Raynal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

George North deserves a better send off than this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 474 ✭✭Madeoface

Don't see any building going on in Wales as others have said. I feel sorry for George North.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,874 ✭✭✭This is it

I don't know the law, do you not have to let the player get up if they've gone to ground to secure the ball?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

I don't recall as poor a performance in one half in any 6N game than Wales here.

They need the hairdryer treatment big time.

I remember the days when Wales were actually good (and arrogant too)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭irelandrover

The best thing you can say about Wales is that their lineout hasn't been awful.

Their scrum is being dominated. Their attacking play is nonexistant. Their handling is embarrassing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

The old Pontypool front row must be dismayed looking at this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,710 ✭✭✭Eibhir

Italy have disapproved, more errors, in the last 15min. But Wales are so bad it hasn't hurt them.

Two teams meeting each other with opposite trajectories: Italy probably should be ahead by more, Wales more in this than they deserve to be. Italy's upwards curve brings cheer but watching Welsh rugby is such a depressing exercise these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Just seen that this is the fourth half of rugby in this tournament where Wales have scored 0 points.

Wales are still in this on the scoreboard. Italy should be more ahead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭Ben Bailey

Wales need a huge 2nd half, similar to the Scotland game.

It looks like Gatland has lost the dressing room. Wales have enough very good players to go out & play. Maybe not win, but at least play.

Italy need to keep pushing at the scoreboard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,188 ✭✭✭standardg60

I thought the same, there were two pens there that I thought should have gone the other way.

North's one, he was still on his knees so how is there then a legitimate tackle on him that he needs to release from?

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,380 ✭✭✭fitz

    Cracking try.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    What a try.

Great pull back try and hands to put Panni through and a great run to finish it off.

Wonderful quality second try by Italy. Wales torn apart.

    Conversion goes over, 18-0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,008 ✭✭✭Shehal

That's more like it, Great try! Think that seals the wooden spoon for Wales anyway weather they come back or not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭Ben Bailey

North is on the ground and must release the ball. Lamora is on his feet and has hands on the ball.

Penalty against North for not releasing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,724 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

I feel for Costelow. Thrown into highest pressure position on the pitch, in a side that's frankly just not good, and he's floundering.

  • No, you don't, this is a persistent myth. Nigel Owens is actually commenting on BBC and corrected one of the other commentators on this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,184 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

Hope Italy can go on and keep improving and not a false dawn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭Ben Bailey

    Fantastic talent at U20 level

Hopefully he'll come through this nightmare stronger.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,756 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Sad end to George North fantastic career.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,719 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

    I don't.

Nothing against the lad in particular, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the Welsh rugby chickens coming home to roost, and its all the more delightful that Gatland is in charge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 877 ✭✭✭Ben Bailey

In fairness, the Welsh crowd are still roaring them on.

If only their players had such belief.
