Very surprised the stuff over Waterford isn’t sparking much

Met eireann change the forecast as they see the radar and lightning strikes happening. I suppose thunderstorms are difficult to predict but it's really a nowcast rather than a forecast.

Well, that certainly delivered a very nice, if a bit short display here in Limk City. I saw several big cloud/ground strokes quite close to me, around 1km or less and some cloud to cloud bolts almost directly overhead with some great thunder. Haven't seen such a display in over a year or more.

A few recent sparks are showing on Blitzortung over the Irish Sea. No chance of Dublin getting a little action?

There were a few strikes over Howth a while ago so Dublin has already had action.

Got a very close strike just outside Limerick in the Ballysimon area about a half hour ago. Nearly knocked out the power. All quiet now. A dog is gone missing on my road.

Please check out my varied content on YouTube.com/@jpmarn. That’s includes some weather.

I noticed that an hour ago driving back to Laois from Wicklow Town, low level cloud was moving really really quickly but little to no movement form the tree tops along the M7. Thats quite a cell moving from Cork through to Limerick, incredible photos!

Over the Irish Sea. Some impressive flashes but no thunder heard.

    People on the beach cheering!
